Discovering Sohag’s Hidden Gems
Nestled along the Nile, Sohag is a city that whispers tales of ancient Egypt while offering a serene escape from the bustling tourist trails. This weekend, with the weather playing the perfect host, it’s time to explore the lesser-known treasures of this historic region. The forecast promises a delightful mix of partly cloudy and clear skies, with temperatures ranging from a cool 50.1°F in the morning to a pleasant 67.4°F in the afternoon. This makes it an ideal time for a walking tour or an outdoor adventure.
Start your day with the Lovely Egypt Tour that kicks off as early as 6:00 AM. This private tour, complete with a knowledgeable guide and a skilled photographer, ensures you capture the essence of Egypt’s rich history. The tour takes you to the Dendera Temple Complex, dedicated to the goddess Hathor, and the Temple of Isis. As you wander through these ancient sites, the moderate wind gusts of up to 24.4 mph will add a refreshing touch to your exploration. A recent review from January 2025 highlights the exceptional service:
Excellent service - The driver and guide were very nice. The guide was knowledgeable and shared information about the two temples. I would like to make special mention of the driver who found my hat and some money and medication in the car that had been accidentally left behind. He organised a friend to deliver them to us. This is important because we had moved to Hurghada by that time and the driver went out of his way to find someone going to the new city so they could be dropped off. This is over and above what I would expect. I highly recommend both the guide and the driver but especially recommend the driver. (Reviewed at: 2024-12-21)

For those looking to capture the magic of the sunset, the Lovely Egypt Tour provides an opportunity to end your day with a visit to the Abydos Temple. Known for its stunning architecture and historical significance, this site offers a unique perspective on Egypt’s ancient past. A review from October 2023 highlights the allure of this experience:
Amazing sights, great tour guide Ra - This was an amazing trip. We visited Abydos and Dander, two temple sites near Luxor that were among the most beautiful we saw in Egypt, except that there were no crowds, and very few visitors at either. Our driver, Ahmed, took us through a dirt road to get to Abydos, which was stunning and devoid of visitors (a treat for us, since most of the sites had huge crowds waiting to view the historical monuments). Our tour guide, Ra, was extremely knowledgeable about Egyptian history, as well as patient and friendly. He even stopped and got us drinks and fresh Egyptian bread from the roadside–delicious! I would encourage everyone to make the extra trip to these two sites: they are closer than Abu Simbel and well worth seeing. (Reviewed at: 2023-10-25)
