Seoraksan, the tallest mountain in the Taebaek range, is situated in Gangwon Province, eastern South Korea, near Sokcho city. It stands as the third highest peak in South Korea, following Hallasan on Jeju Island and Jirisan in the south. The Daechongbong Peak of Seoraksan rises to 1,708 meters (5,603 feet). The Taebaek mountain range is often regarded as the spine of the Korean peninsula.
