Good value for money - We originally planned to go to Xcaret but after reading reviews decided to try Xel-ha instead and were very pleased with our decision. We booked directly with transport included which worked really well as it went directly to and from the hotel so there were no lengthy pick up/drop off journeys. We got there early and were advised to go straight to the tower/slide to avoid the queues, which we did and only found a very brief queue. There are lockers at the bottom of the slide to leave everything. I was quite nervous about the slide, it was fun but I wasn’t prepared for the final covered section which was pretty much pitch black and a lot of water in your face. That part is over quickly as you’re soon flung out of the end - probably better for didn’t know about it before! We weren’t sure exactly what to take. We walked around in swimwear and water shoes all day. There are lockers where you can leave everything else and towels are provided. I would recommend going to red station as you get snorkel gear from that locker station too. Dry bags seem to be provided at the yellow station (we only found that at the end of the day). The lazy river is fun, I braved the 14ft cliff jumps and it felt very safe. If you try the rope bridge go on one at a time otherwise the smallest on there won’t be able to reach. We weren’t sure exactly very impressed by the all inclusive food and drinks. I’d read you had to dry off to go in the restaurants but people were walking around there in towels and bathing suits. There are (cold) showers and shower gel is provided although I would recommend taking your own. We didn’t do any of the extra activities and didn’t feel as though we missed out. It’s worth going to look at the areas where the experiences take place as you can see what’d going on. Overall, a good day out.

Activities are extra - power snorkel is the best - The activities are extra and a bit pricey - we went with power snorkel and adrenaline. Power snorkel was definitely worth it. Adrenaline was fun but I’ll pass next time. Food was delicious!

Great unusual water park - A great and unusual experience. A natural water park with date jumps, slides, caves lots of animals to see. A long day though pick up was 7.30am and drop off 7pm, leaving the park at 6pm. We had great weather but I did think had there been a storm there wasn’t much shelter, one of the restaurants was covered but I was imagining how packed it would be. Also to note that if pick up is 6pm for you all food and drinks service is finished at 5pm.

Honest disabled view on the park - The park it's self is amazing, the staff were friendly and welcoming. It was a worthy trip when visiting the Cancun area. The food was nice, nothing fantastic, just your standard buffet. However, there were a few downsides. The park opens at 8:30, but you can't get breakfast straightaway, which also meant no drinks ready for you unless you purchased from one of the many shops. Ok, so let's get down to the accessibility park of this wonderful park. You can hire wheelchairs for the day for around $24, I however do not need a wheelchair but I do have issues. Note that if you regularly need to rest like me, then this park might not be for you - it's a massive trek around the tracks of this park with very and I mean very little seating to rest on. Now, in the other seating areas, which are some very beautiful wooden deck chairs however these are very low to the ground impossible for me to get in and out of which means there is nowhere to actually sit and chill during my visit, most certainly wouldn't be the beautiful hammocks. There were toilet blocks scattered, which all had drinking fountains, but that's it. You wanted anything other than water. You had to walk all the way back to the restaurants for drinks and snacks, so unless you spent all day around that area. We did find that it was disappointing that there were so many other activities that you have to pay for once there, which could add a considerable cost for a family of 4.

A fun day out! - We booked our Xel-Ha and Tulum experience through TUI and when they came to pick up up (Xcaret Group) we were told that we would be going to Xel-Ha in the morning and Tulum at 2pm. This was NOT what TUI advertise on their website and app for experiences and I said to our guide Hugo that we didn’t want to go to Tulum in the hottest part of the day and also this isn’t what was sold to us. He was very helpful and dealt with this promptly when we arrived to the park and said we could have the option to just stay at Xel-Ha all day which we did decide to do. I logged a separate complaint with TUI as they are selling a tour that says Tulum will be in the morning and Xel-Ha in the afternoon. This was not the fault of Xcaret group as they advertise the tour we were mis sold by TUI. Xel-Ha is a great day out. You really do need a whole day to properly enjoy the park. You can have breakfast, lunch, snacks and as much drink as you like. They have beverage stations around the park and lots of different restaurants to use: international buffet, Mexican, snack bar etc. we chose to have Mexican and it was fresh and delicious and use the snack bar for some chips and a burger before we left. Staff are friendly and helpful and lots of lifeguards in and around the water. Life jackets are provided and stationed all over the park so you can take one off and then go and grab another one later and snorkel equipment and towels and lockers are provided too. We didn’t purchase any additional activities and had a great day snorkelling, doing the river tubing, ziplines, big slide, jungle walk and cenote etc. They have fish shaped flags in the water to signal where fish may congregate and this was so helpful. We saw loads of different species of fish and stingrays. It is a great, active day out if you want it to be or equally you can chill on the beach or in many of the hammocks they have. It never felt overcrowded for us. Additional activities are expensive so bear in this mind as I can imagine for a family this would be a pricier day out. As a couple in our 30’s who love the water, we still had an amazing day. TIP: bring water shoes of your own they are so expensive to buy in the park and they are really handy for walking around everywhere. No sunscreen unless reef safe whatsoever and please abide by this rule as it’s for the preservation of the reef and animals/ water.

Great park. Not so great transportation - Leave yourselves hours in the back end of the excursion. Xel-Ha was most excellent in every way. Great park, great food and friendly staff. Our transportation back to our hotel was aggravating. We were given a time to meet up as well as the location. The park closes at 5:00. Food stops at 5:30. We were to meet up at 5:45 at the bus. 90% we’re in time 4 however, held the group up from departing in time, entered the bus and the bus departed axel-Ha. 5 minutes down the road the stragglers infirm the driver they need to stop for a bathroom break. ARE YOU FRIGGING KIDDING ME? The literally passed a W/C as they got on the bus. Now, with heavy traffic, we take a 15 minute pit stop. The hour drive to our hotel took 2 hours.

I mean it’s alright - There was a bit of miscommunication when I was told to be picked up from the lobby only to find out later I was being picked up from the a different location instead. When I called wondering where the transportation was I called and was first met with someone saying that I never scheduled pickup, however I called the day before confirming the pickup to be the lobby of my hotel. It then proceeded with me being swapped around to different people ending up with a guy saying that I would either have to get there by ourselves or reschedule( which was not an option for us). When I asked for some form of compensation, I was told it would take weeks or months with the dude claiming it would be an arduous process. Either way we bit the bullet and spent around 150 USD to get to the park via taxi. Scenery - Xel-Ha is a gorgeous park. There’s lots of wildlife around even though it was raining quite hard. Nice vibes everywhere with friendly staff. Food - food was quite alright. It was nothing really special about it. Activities - So the ticket bought here on TripAdvisor claims to be All-inclusive. That All-inclusive really only applies to food and drinks. There are activities all over the park that require extra money. I paid for the dolphin experience and fish bath and I honestly think my experience would’ve been quite diminished if not for me purchasing those extra activities. Sure you can spend 5 hours snorkeling, but there are more fun things like a sea trek, power snorkeling, scuba and more. I would say the ticket is misleading at worst, but minimal at best. Overall, the day we visited, 11/16, there was a huge event for a triathlon. It was quite loud and it was confusing how to check in. Since there is no way to really know about such an event happening in advance, I cannot really blame the park for that.

Water Park - An absolute must if you love being in the water. But if you add the extra activities it gets very expensive. We loved the lazy river (that wasn't so lazy). I loved the cliff jumping, zip wires, Cenote, floating bridge. Great that all food and drink was included as its a very long day.

Great day out but not great value - We booked Xel Ha via Otium travel agency at our hotel Paradisus Playa Del Carmen as part of a 2 package deal with Xplor Fuego. The park is beautiful and clean, equipment is in good condition, etc. In general Xel Ha was a great day out but for the price you pay it is a bit ridiculous the cost of the extra activities such as snuba, speedboat ride, photo package, etc. in that sense it isn’t great value for money as you can only do the basic activities without spending a fortune. One strange thing as well is the breakfast buffet restaurant opening at 9.30am when you are dropped off at the park at gate opening time 8am, people like myself were picked up from their hotels at 6.55am so when you arrive you want food…..then to be stood there and it starts raining so take shelter in the restaurant for a staff member to shout that they are closed and to get out, was a bit of a poor first impression after paying 100s of $ to the Xcaret company. It’s still worth a visit but just be aware you aren’t getting a good deal in comparison to what you pay for Xplor Fuego for example where all activities are included.
