The best boat tour on the lake! - We had reached out to Fabio to schedule a boat tour on the lake and he scheduled everything for us. We were picked up by Nikolas and his crew from our hotel dock and spent the whole day going to three different Pueblo’s and learning about their history and different products that come from them. We got to try honey wine and artisanal chocolate and see how the women of the area make beautiful textiles. We had a blast and the weather was beautiful the whole time.

Spectacular Guide!!! - I highly recommend this business! Our tour guide, I believe her name was Maria did an amazing job! The tour was about 10 hours long. Please bring good walking shoes and water! Maria took us around Lake Atitlan and the mountains showing a complete understanding of not only the beautiful history of Guatemala but Panajachel! In addition to the very friendly approach and good sense of humor, Maria makes herself easily available and flexible to attend your wishes!

our March 2024 Guatemala tour - We had an amazing time with authentic Guatemala tours, Fabio took care of us every step of the way. He led us to knowledgeable and accommodating guides. We felt safe and taken care of all thru out. We live in NY, were used to good accommodations and authentic Guatemala delivered above and beyond.

Island hopping - The beauty of the lake was incredible! San Juan was lovely, visiting co-ops (weaving, chocolate, 🐝 keeping ) was interesting and the guides were very knowledgeable. The stops on the islands were a little rushed, I would’ve liked a bit more free time on each island.

Great day - Transportation for the two of us from our hotel in Guatemala City was included. Our driver, Juan Carlos, was on time at 5:30 am, and was so kind, safe, helpful. (He stayed with us all day to keep an eye on the tour.) He drove a small Hyundai. After a good breakfast in Panajachel (included in the tour), we were led to the waterfront and loaded into a small, covered boat which easily accommodated our group, which turned out to be nine people. Our tour guide, Nicolás, gave us a short talk about the lake and villages and an overview of our tour. The boat took us first to San Juan. We were there about 90 minutes, first at a chocolate shop that included a demonstration of how they process chocolate there. The demonstrator followed us around at the end encouraging purchases. Next we went to a weaving co-op for another demonstration and shopping opportunity. (Both of these demonstrations are available to any tourist who walks in.) We were given a very small amount of time to look around the small town, which is extraordinary and well decked out for tourists. The boat then took us for a 20-minute stop in San Pedro, an unremarkable town. Our last stop by boat was Santiago, a great little town with a good view. We returned to Panajachel by boat and Juan Carlos drove us back to our hotel. If you can get yourself to and from Panajachel, you may be able to do all this on your own by hiring a boat at a significantly reduced price. Nicolás was good, but the amount of tour guiding he did was not worth the expense of the tour. He seemed invested in how much we bought, especially in Santiago, his home town.

Watch out!!! Very aggressive guides. They forget about the Tourist side and are dedicated to doing business with everything. - There are very nice villages around the lake, although for the price they charge there is a lot to owe really. The guides are very passive-aggressive, especially one named Jose, who touched us to guide us throughout the day, his aggression is regarding the subject of the “obligatory” times and places that forces you to enter, which are obviously not Top-rated in each of the villages we visit You don’t have time to see anything, which they don’t want to show you because they don’t give you free time between the tours. Use such aggressive phrases as “if you behave well maybe later I’ll give you about 10 minutes off to see what you want” (WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU WE’RE NOT YOUR PROPERTY, WE’RE GOING FOR A GUIDE SERVICE TO A TOUR WE PAY FOR AND PRETTY EXPENSIVE) FOR WHAT IT REALLY IS) It repeats again and again in a very aggressive tone that you do not buy from the artisans who are in the places we walk, and it is super obvious that they do it because they take you to the places where they have agreement, they get to sit and drink in what they put other local people to give you the explanations of the place and not even water invite you throughout the tour There were people (women) who asked to go to the bathroom and the very aggressive guide could hold on for about 10 minutes until he reached one of their places The very aggressive guide speaks ill of you with the locals for not wanting to buy excessively expensive crafts in the places they make you enter There were several moments when my wife and I felt very very uncomfortable to the extent that we already wanted to finish the tour and leave the place. When you are in a place that you do not know and especially in a country that is not yours it is very scary that being such an aggressive and local guide you do not know what they can do to you. The only rescue of the Tour was the operator who took us to Lake Atitlan (where the tour went) and back to our hotel. Luis a very friendly person and with a lot of knowledge, in fact during the road trips he was explaining everything we were not explained during the tour (which was supposed to be for that). How sad that this kind of thing happens being that you go to another country to meet new places, cultures etc etc. I wish someone at @Tripadvisor would do something about it and give us back what they charged us to experience one of the ugliest days my wife and I have ever lived during a vacation
