- Panam City - Panam City, known as the lost city, is an archaeological site in Bangladesh located in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj District. You will be amazed to learn that the structures are centuries old. It is considered the oldest capital of Bengal and was part of the ancient silk road connecting the Bengal delta to China and Central Asia. As the capital of the fifteenth-century Bengal ruler Isa Khan, and once a significant trading and political hub, Sonargaon features architecture from the Sultanate, Mughal, and colonial periods. The historic city of Sonargaon, near the current capital Dhaka, includes several Mughal monuments such as the Sonakanda River Fort, the Panch Pir Mazar Shrine, and Ibrahim’s and Abdul Hamid’s Mosque. British colonial architecture in Sonargaon includes the Ananda Mohan Piddar House and other street-front houses. For travelers journeying along the 2,500-kilometer Grand Trunk Road from Peshawar in the Hindu Kush, Sonargaon was the final destination.

Sonargaon Folk Art and Craft Museum - Bangladesh is a land of ancient splendor and rich cultural heritage. Its vast area is full of diversity. Sonargaon is a proud ancient township in the history of Bengal, serving as the capital for nearly three hundred years. During the Sultanate period, Sonargaon was chosen to showcase our golden heritage. Its importance waned after the capital was moved to Dhaka in 1608 by Mughal Subedar Islam Khan. Nevertheless, Sonargaon still connects us to a golden past. The Bangladesh Folk Art & Craft Foundation was established to preserve the memory of historic Sonargaon, with advice and financial support from the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the dedicated efforts of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin. The foundation is popularly known as the Sonargaon Museum.
Founded: According to a government notification, the Bangladesh Folk Art & Crafts Foundation was established in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, on 12 March 1975. - Goaldi Mosque - The mosque was established in 1519 by Mulla Hizabar Akbar Khan during the reign of Sultan Alauddin Husain Shah of Bengal, in a place called Goaldi, half a mile northeast of Panam village in Sonargaon. Sonargaon was a Mint Town of the Bengal Sultanate and often served as a royal capital. The Sultans frequently launched raids into Assam, Tripura, and Arakan from Sonargaon. The town was the principal administrative center of eastern Bengal, particularly the Bhati region. Today, the area is part of Narayanganj District, Bangladesh. The mosque is one of the more elegant and ornate Sultanate-era mosques in the country.
