Fantastic night market tour! - My night market tour with Jones was the highlight of my quick weekend in Taipei. He is a pleasure to spend time with and is incredibly knowledgable — he shared so much about the history of the markets and shops. I also learned a lot from him about Taiwan and Taipei. He brought me to so many great spots, and I got to enjoy delicious food along the way. I had such a great time and would absolutely recommend a tour with Jones. Truly a wonderful experience.

Wonderful night tour in Taipei!’ - We were a very last minute reservation, but Jessica came through and made it happen! She was a wonderful and energetic tour guide and introduced us to the Taiwanese culture! Her love for her country and her heritage shined through as she taught us Taiwan! ! It was a night my husband and I will not forget and we are already planning our next trip to Taipei ! Hopefully Jessica will be available to give us more tours in Taipei!

So good I booked another tour for the next day! - What an amazing adventure to see Taipei through Garen’s eyes. She was able to paint the full experience of Taipei with history, culture, overall vibe and at the same time enticing the four senses all in just a few hours. I walked away wanting more so I booked another tour with her the next day and it was even better. Belly full with Taiwan’s signature dishes as well as loaded with images to please Instagram for days. You’ll be pleased to be in the hands of a true professional guide.

Great time around Taipei at night! - This was a quick night as my Uber driver dropped me in wrong location so the first half hour was finding the correct spot. It was also raining so had to navigate around the night market to stay dry, but Jessica was a trooper. She was entertaining and gave great history and stories to the Temple, the night market, rainbow bridge and Taiwan in general. She suggested food I should try and was always on point with the exception of an ice cream dish I wanted and was fabulous. I was stuffed when we were done and she was helpful in getting me back to my hotel on the app without incident. Would highly recommend but would change the address meeting point on the website and ticket. Maybe have the temple as the meeting as everyone knows where that is! Kudos and thanks again! Will come back again and go hiking!

A Magical Evening Indeed - We had a great time with Daphne exploring Songshan Ciyou Temple, Raohe Night Market, and the Taipei 101 area. Not only did we see beautiful sites and eat great food, Daphne gave us historical information and ensured we were having fun the whole time.

Evening tour of temples and night markets - Jones as an excellent guide for my first night in Taipei. Though With Locals, I was able to express my preferences for a private tour. Picked me up at my hotel in his car and we started at a high vantage point for an overview if the city geography and history. Jones' explanation of temple customs and culture expanded my knowledge. At the night markets, Jones started with Midwestern boy with familiar foods and then expanded to the less familiar. Extremely helpful to have Jones translate with the owners of the food stalls, as choices that cost $1.50 have options for fillings, seasonings and sauces. With Locals web site and phone app are both very solid and smooth. Once you book, I had frequent and helpful text exchanges with my guide on What's App. Highly recommend this booking platform and this guide.

A great food tour - Jessica took us to the Shilin Night market and we tasted lots of of great (and not so great) foods. She was good fun and explained everything. We will always remember the stinky tofu!

Knowledgeable and energetic! - Daphne was an excellent guide on our tour. She gave us clear directions on where to meet and during the tour she was knowledgeable and energetic! You can tell she loves her city and was very knowledgeable about the history and on trendy places that are of interest to tourists! She answered all of our questions and gave us some great insider advice! I would absolutely go on another tour with Daphne.

Had such a nice time, we booked a 2nd evening tour for 10 Tastings. - Having never been to Taiwan & Taipei, these tours were definitely the way to go. Jessica was our host/tour guide & she established a warm, welcoming rapport right from the start. We learned so much just in touring the Songshan Ciyou Temple & how it’s history is intertwined with the Raohe St. Night Market. During our night market walk-thru, Jessica was always attentive for any questions or concerns we had as we tried different foods. Our last stop was the park at Taipei 101 & the Taiwan Lantern Festival was happening while we were there. Jessica was kind enough to take lots of pictures of us throughout the tour which we really appreciated as we are not the kind of travelers who stop to take pictures to document everything but rather the ones who enjoy the moments. When we come back to Taipei, we hope to book more tours & request her as our guide.

Yes, you could go on this tour with Daphne. - Daphne reached out well before the tour to see if I had any questions and the tour started on time. She accomodated many of the questions during the experience and even gave recommendations for after the tour. The duration of the tour was met with a strict military-level attention. Though, I am a bit conflicted on what score to give based on my experience with this tour. I have been on different tourbylocals activities around the world and support them but the latest experience is a bit of a thinker. I could be a downer and point out that only one snack was supported while the listing said two snacks and one drink, and that the tour did not cover the songshan station or the memorial hall at all when the listing said it would - but this would all be devil in the details. Was I bored - nope, Daphne was very engaging and never let a moment of boredom creep in. But did I enjoy myself - I am not sure coz we didnt see much other than a few square kilometers and I kept getting the sense that Daphne had somewhere else to be. I think the issue here is not with Daphne who served her function but the itierinary perhaps which was too short to be indicative of anything that Taipei can offer (there are bigger better night markets and temples within a few blocks, a couple of addiitonal stops near Taipei 101 area would have provided cultural context to Taiwanese history and way of life, etc. etc.). I wouldnt give a negative rating for this tour but it still left me wanting more of something which I have to go elsewhere to fullfill in Taipei. Maybe this tour is the best option within this price range? - I havent researched that yet. You can definitely find positives out of this tour but maybe I am focusing on the empty half of the glass. Anyhow, if you are a first time in Taipei and would like a small appetiser of what lay in store ahead, feel free to go on this tour with Daphne. It might just do the trick for you.
