Fantastic tour of Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. - Our guide and bus driver were great. Cynthia (apologies for not getting the right Italian version) was amazing. She was friendly and informative and kept a cracking pace. Always helpful and provided great insight and information.

One of the Highlights of our trip to Naples - even my 14 year old son loved it! - Hiking Mt. Vesuvius and then touring Pompeii was one of the highlights of my 10 day trip to Italy with my 14 year old son. Our guide for Vesuvius was Mario - he was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Depending on your physical shape, I'm not sure I would call it a hike. It's more of a long walk up a hill, but the views were breathtaking and it was amazing to think about the power behind the volcano. Our guide for Pompeii was also fantastic (I can't remember her name now) - she is an actual working archeologist and had so much insight into what went on in Pompeii it really provided great context. The only down side of the Pompeii trip is that 2 hours is not nearly enough to see everything. Luckily for us, that was the second half of our tour that day so we were able to spend more time on our own. I would suggest they always do it that way to allow people the time to explore (as opposed to doing Pompeii first and then Vesuvius which was what was originally scheduled).

Excellent tour in all aspects - the guide Roberta and all the arrangements going like a watch. - Guided informed tour of Pompeii which made the visit in very warm weather manageable and also the limoncello at the summit of Vesuvius.

Loved it! - Desiree was fantastic, she showed so much enthusiasm throughout the tour despite the heat. She advocated for us while lining up for certain displays and reminded us of etiquette when visiting the site. She shared a lot of information with some good natured jokes along the way. We could tell this subject never gets old for her and that enthusiasm really rubbed off on us. We would definitely do this tour again it was fabulous- thank you!

Fabulous experience- did not disappoint - We opted to take the Pompei / Vesuvius trip which included bus pick up / drop off in Sorrento. There are lots of ways to visit Pompeii we choose the guided tour, Cinzia was our tour guide for the day (Golden Tours) she was brilliant, very knowledgeable and passionate, you could really tel she took pride in her job and made sure we full experienced Pompeii the best we could. The drive was fabulous- navigated the road as expected like a Pro. Pompeii- guided tour with headset to ensure everyone could hear, our tour was 2 hours which was enough for us, got a feel for the place and what life was like in those times, it was amazing how they have mangaged to safely escavate the frescos etc. I think the best thing about using the guide is that they pick the best things to see, to ensure you make the most of your time - Pompeii is so vast you could get lost and not get a sense of it. Now onto Vesuvius, I was a bit worried about this as I’m not too fit, but I decided to give it a try, it was very hot 29th July, I took a walking stick offers at the start, pay a tip for it when you return, it took me the full 30 minutes to get up, I just took my time, rested often and got to the top, if like me your not too fit, keep going it’s worth the view from the top- there are a few places on Vesuvius to buy souvenirs, drinks and snacks again cash easier but they do take card We took the deal with lunch - I believe we got a small discount for pre-booking - lunch was great value, 4 options for lunch (tomato pasta, carbonara, pizza and tuna salad, a side salad and a bit of cake and included 1 drink €19 Remember to take cash with you on the day not all places take card - for example the restaurant didn’t We did a stop at the specialist Lemoncello shop - we got a great demonstration from the owner, we bought 3 bottles of various variations which we were happy to do so as I had wanted to taste real Amalfi lemons (he owns a lemon farm in Amalfi) so if you do want to get lemon-cello on your trip you could always wait - the shop takes card The trip was well organised, well communicated, and well priced (I checked out quite a few places) On a final note our teens 14 & 17 started to make rumblings about not wanting to go, by this point I have paid and there was no going back - they had a great time and enjoyed it - another reason for only taking the 2 hr in Pompeii the right amount of time for the heat

Great trip, highly recommend Vesuvius alone - Very good tour, great tour guide. The trip took around 1 hour to reach Pompeii from sorrento, we had a few hours here (be prepared it is very very hot in the summer) we then went and had lunch which was great value (booked as a ticket option through here) We had a side salad, bread, water and another drink of choice (Pepsi, orange, beer, wine) choice of a main which was pizza, tomato spaghetti, spaghetti carbonara (which was beautiful) or a tuna salad followed by a very nice slice of cake. We then drove from Pompeii up to mount Vesuvius. The roads are windy to get up to the drop off point but the coach drivers and very skilled and it wasn’t scary or worrying in the slightest and didn’t make anyone feel travel sick (unlike one of the other reviews I had read which worried me) Once at the drop off point we trekked to the top which took around 30 mins, it was very steep with little breeze. There are a few stop off points on the way up to have a breather and where you can buy drinks and the same right at the very top. The views are spectacular. It took around 25 minutes to get down, wear some shoes/trainers with good grip as it’s very rocky/easy to slip. This trip was great, would really recommend.

Lunch appears to not be an option if you want to feel welcomed - The trip to Pompeii was the best part of this tour, especially given we were rained out from walking up to the crater of Mt. Vesuvius. We realize this was out of the control of our guides, but it was disappointing. However- I was extremely unhappy in how we were treated regarding the lunch break. When booking this tour- there was the option to purchase with or without lunch. Later I confirmed we could bring our own lunch. When we stopped for lunch, it was not in an area where other food options were available but at a specific restaurant known to the tour guide. Those few who did not purchase lunch were relegated to an outside area- but since it had been raining and the furniture was soaked - we asked to sit inside. We not only received a cool reception from the owner but were basically forced to buy something (we chose a drink each). If lunch at this establishment was required, the tour should not have made lunch optional to buy. We were made to feel unwelcome and this put a damper on our overall tour experience.

No lunch included means no lunch. No alternative. - 1. We didn’t get picked up from our motel. Some people were confused about drop off as it wasn’t in the same place as pick up. 2. We were given an option of including lunch in our ticket. We chose not to as I have a medical condition where I can’t eat many types of food and didn’t want to spend 19 euro and then couldn’t eat the food. I asked twice for a cup of coffee and waiters were too busy serving. BUT if you chose the no lunch option you basically had no lunch. Many people were talked into buying lunch as they took us out of town to a restaurant with nothing else around. One lady was a diabetic and had no choice. It was the same for half the bus. 3. They gave us no time to buy a souvenir at Pompeii and I'm sure that was because they didn’t want you buying food and therefore wouldn’t eat at the restaurant. 4. The area of Pompeii that the guide showed us was not a good choice as there were other areas which were more interesting: I’ve been there before. 5. Mt Vesuvius was fine but Fabiana the guide, acknowledged that she had not given us time for souvenirs at Pompeii and told us to buy them here. They were rubbish. 6. Fabiana the guide had zero care factor for us. Didn’t even ask if we were ok and didn’t try to get us food even though she yelled out a couple of times that we all must be hungry. 7. If you give an option, you cannot take that away because you want to make money. An alternative must be given otherwise don’t sell the ticket. All that was needed was a note with bring your own lunch or give us time to buy it at Pompeii.
