Highlights
  • Piazza Tasso - Departure from Sorrento from the Office IAMME IA!-Tours & Tickets
  • Pompeii Archaeological Park - Pompeii is a vast archaeological site in southern Italy’s Campania region, near the coast of the Bay of Naples. Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried under meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The preserved site features excavated ruins of streets and houses that visitors can freely explore.
  • Basilica - The Basilica, with its extension of 1,500 square meters, was the most sumptuous building of the Forum, and its space was used to carry out business and for the administration of justice.
  • Forum - The Civil Forum is the core of daily life of the city and is the focal point of all the main public buildings for city administration and justice, business management, and trade activities such as markets, as well as the main places of citizen worship.
  • Tempio di Giove Capitolino - Dominated by the Vesuvius with its statues of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, the temple was the Capitolium, similar to the one located in the Ancient Rome. The statues were highly placed to be visible to those passing in the Forum.
  • Macellum - The Macellum of Pompeii was located on the Forum and as the provision market of Pompeii was one of the focal points of the ancient city. The building was constructed in several phases. When the earthquake of 62 CE destroyed large parts of Pompeii, the Macellum was also damaged.
  • Via dell’Abbondanza - Via dell’Abbondanza was the ancient main street (decumanus maximus) of ancient Pompeii, which ran across the city in the direction east/west from the Forum to the Porta Sarno.
In ancient times the street was crowded and noisy with many shops, workshops (“officinae”), cafes, snack-bars and restaurants for food and drink.
  • Stabian Baths (Terme Stabiane) - The Forum Baths are located behind the Temple of Jupiter and date back to the years immediately after the founding of the colony of veterans by General Silla (80 BC). Women’s and men’s quarters had separate entrances. The men’s section presents an apodyterium (dressing room), used also as a tepidarium (for medium temperature baths), frigidarium (for cold baths) and calidarium (for hot baths). Like many buildings in Pompeii, the baths were heavily damaged during the earthquake of 62 AD.
  • Lupanar - The Lupanar of Pompeii is the most famous brothel in the ruined Roman city of Pompeii. It is of particular interest for the erotic paintings on its walls. Lupanar is Latin for “brothel”. The Pompeii lupanar is also known as Lupanare Grande.
  • House of Menander (Casa del Menandro) - The house of the Menander is a great example of a Roman Villa owned by an high-ranking family. It is reachly decorated with wonderful frescoes representing scenes of the Trojan war and here were also founded many objects in silver, tableware now strored in the Archaeological Museum in Naples. The house owes its name to a picture of Menander, an Athenian poet, placed in the portico.
The house belonged to Quintus Poppaeus Sabinus of the Poppei family, relatives of the Empress Poppea Sabina, Nero’s second wife.
  • Pompeii Archaeological Park - The Large Theater of Pompeii was built from the Romans on the slope of a hill located in the area; they took advantage of the natural depression of the mountain to create a majesty auditorium divided into 5 sectors.
On the stage were played tragedies of the Greco-Roman traditions.
  • Vesuvius National Park - Drop off at 1.000 mt high on the Volcano.
Mount Vesuvius is a somma-stratovolcano located on the Gulf of Naples in Campania, Italy, about 9 km east of Naples and a short distance from the shore.
In 79 AD eruption destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Mount Vesuvius doesn’t stand alone. While the ‘main peak’ is named Vesuvius, there is another mountain which is attached to it, Monte Somma.
is listed among the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. Volcanologists and geologists alike agree that the next volcanic eruption is overdue and that when it does happen, it will be big. The layer of magma that lies beneath Vesuvius measures a huge 154 square miles; this is why scientists monitore the volcano’s activity 24/7.
  • Vesuvius National Park - Reach the crater’s edge at 1.280 mt to admire a breathtaking panorama on the Gulf of Naples.
The surface of the path is uneven, but it’ ll be well worth it.
Following the devastating eruption, it was named after the Roman God of the Flame and Metal Forgery – Vulcan

Great experience but climb to top of Mt. Vesuvius is not easy - We had a great tour of Pompeii. It was extremely hot. Bring lots of water and fans/cooling towels if you go in the summer. Mt. Vesuvius was very cool to see. It was a half hour walk up to the top. Not as easy of a climb as they say. Overall we had a great experience!

Fantastic single day trip to Pompei Ruins and Mt Vesuvius! - Fabulous day visiting Pompei ruins and Mount Vesuvius. Our guides Eugene and Maria were wonderful - informative, organised, and great fun. The guide who escorted our group through the ruins shared her extensive knowledge about life in the town before the catastrophic eruption, bringing the place to life in our imaginations. Arriving into the ruins as they opened also allowed us some time before the crowds built. Our bus departed Sorrento just after 7.30am and returned, after a full day, at 4pm. Would absolutely recommend this tour as an easy, hassle-free, and organised way to sample the ruins and the mighty volcano in one day.

Great tour good value for money compared to other tours - Great value for money compared to the other tours available. Our guide was very friendly and informative LouLou really made the trip fun! The tour at Pompeii was fantastic and so happy we went with a tour as could easily get lost. Daniella was so knowledgeable and made sure everyone kept in the shade where possible and explained everything clearly and kept it interesting. You can't see all of Pompeii in a day so keep that in mind. Good shoes are a must! Floor is slippery and get hots. The entrance we used had lots of shops and drinks stalls and lunch was offered for an additional 17 euro for 3 course and a drink however we bought a pack lunch and sat and ate in the shade. The coach to mount Vesuvius was an eye opening experience but the driver was amazing. Coach was air conditioned which was a blessing. We had a timed pick up which gave us plenty of time to get to the top walk around have a beer then slowly climb down and have an Ice cream at the bottom. Really great experience but a bit of a climb and very dusty so be prepared good shoes we wore trainers which are covered in dust but so worth it. Toilets are free at Mount Vesuvius and drinks are cold and well priced approx 1 - 2 euros. The drive back to Sorrento is stunning and felt really well looked after. Really good tour definitely good value for money seeing as other in are group did the train tour with another company and it took them almost 9hrs to see less and had no air conditioning

Superb tour - We have used Viator to book many trips, easy to find pick up and an early start to beat the crowds. The tour guides were brilliant. We learnt so much on the way there and whilst being guided around Pompeii. The trip up Vesuvius was challenging but well worth the views and a cold beer at the top.

Outstanding! - Wow! Even though it was a whistle stop tour (2 hours), what an experience! Even though it is a short walk from the car park to the visitor centre on a good surface, the walk around Pompeii is 8000 steps, over what can be really uneven surfaces! There are a couple of water taps across the site if you run out of water. Make sure you wear good strong shoes (hint, not flip flops🤷).Thank you so much to our tour guides for looking after us.

Well worth doing both together! - Definitely well worth going both together. Very well organised and good value for money. Too busy and hot to spend any longer in Pompeii than a couple of hours but an excellent guide who really brought it to life. Spectacular views at the top of the volcano and well worth the hike to the crater. Thoroughly recommend!

Worth it for Vesuvius - Pompeii was “ok”, but the highlight was definitely the hike up Vesuvio. Make sure you have *lots* of water if doing in the middle of summer!
