A Step Back in Time

As a former professional surfer, my life has always been about chasing the next wave, but every now and then, I find myself drawn to the land, eager to explore the rich history and culture of the Caribbean islands. On a recent trip to Soufriere, I decided to take a break from the ocean and immerse myself in the past with the Morne Coubaril Estate Tour. As someone who appreciates the finer things in life, I was eager to sample the local delicacies. The tasting began with a selection of rum liqueurs, each served in generous portions that allowed us to savor the unique blends. While I’m not typically a rum enthusiast, the first six liqueurs were delightful, offering a sweet and smooth introduction to the tasting.

As we progressed through the tasting, the rums became more robust, culminating in an 80% proof rum that was not for the faint-hearted. Though I opted to skip the final sample, the experience was a testament to the rich and diverse flavors of Caribbean rum. In between the rum samples, we were treated to an array of dark chocolates, each more decadent than the last. The combination of rum and chocolate was a match made in heaven, and I found myself savoring each bite and sip.

A Morning Well Spent

After the tour, we continued our journey to the nearby Toraille waterfall, which provided a refreshing contrast to the morning’s activities.
