- Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary - Arrive at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary at 10:15 am, where you have 3 hours to explore at your leisure. Established in 1927, Lone Pine was created as a haven for sick, injured, and orphaned koalas during a time when they were hunted for their fur.
Today, Lone Pine is a place to not only observe native Australian wildlife but also to engage, learn, and leave inspired to make small, positive changes in daily life to protect native wildlife and habitats.
In addition to koalas and kangaroos, Lone Pine features a sheepdog show where dogs skillfully herd sheep, responding to their handler’s whistles, calls, and signals. Witness owls, kites, and sea eagles soaring at the Birds of Prey show, or admire the vibrant plumage of wild lorikeets that visit twice daily for feedings. Other bird species and Eastern Water Dragons, a lizard reaching up to 3 feet (90cm) in length, also frequent Lone Pine’s natural parkland.
- Koala and River Cruises - After an exciting exploration of the Sanctuary, boarding begins at 12:45 pm for those with weary feet, continuing until 1:30 pm for a relaxing cruise back to the city.
