We set you up for a great ride with E-Bike instructions and a trail safety briefing before you begin the trail.
Better By Bike is a well-established bike tour operator with over 12 years experience operating in Queenstown, New Zealand. We are located at the start of the Rail Trail at the Murwillumbah Railway Station. Only 40mins drive from Byron Bay and the Gold Coast.
The trail is suited for all ages and abilities, we offer tag-along bikes and chariots or baby seats so families can also enjoy the trail ride together!
The E-Bikes we provide are powered by Bosch to go the distance making the ride as comfortable and relaxing as possible. If you decide to ride one way only we can collect you with our shuttle bus, for a small fee. Our priority is that you enjoy your day, let us take care of the details.
- Tag Along Bikes and Chariots are available for toddlers and small children

Great day on our ebike from Better by Bikes Murwillumbah. - We hired our e-bikes from Better by Bike Murwillumbah for a ride on the Rail Trail. The lady who organised our ride was friendly and very helpful. She fitted us for our bikes and explained the functions and gave us all the information required to make our ride enjoyable. The bikes were clean, comfortable and easy to ride.

Outdoor fun and a nature trail - We had the best time.. we are a couple in our late sixties, never used an electric bike before and so easy to use. We travelled approx 50klm a return trip without a problem. It was a picturesque journey. We stopped at a fruit and veggie stand noting what to buy on our way back to our starting point.
- Hosanna Farm, we fed the alpacas and goats. Feed purchased at the farm..
- Our next stop was at Burringbar for a bite to eat. We had a snack at The Barn, great coffee and we had a delicious freshly baked gluten free cake ..
There’s a park at Burringbar, a picnic would be delightful..
- Take some cash to purchase fruit and veggies.

Never too old to give it a go! - We were a group of 6 seniors, and with e-bikes, the rail trail was a breeze.... 50 km of sheer joy. The bike hire was so easy to do and every one was very helpful and friendly. 4 of us hadn't ridden bikes for a very long time and never an e-bike. The trail is a wonderful tour through the countryside with some magnificent views... great coffee and lunch spits along the way.

Best e-bikes hire company ever!! - The e-bikes provided by Better by Bike are first class. Excellent quality, power, and immaculately maintained. We had a thorough run down on how the e-bike operates and the bike's controls, etc.
The staff are very friendly and obviously know their stuff.
The Rail Trail itself from Murwillumbah to Crabbes Creek is one of the best we've encountered. Great information signage along the way and an easy grade. Plenty of shade going through arbours and quaint villages (sidings) you'd never come across driving the main roads. Great coffee and a cheerful reception at the Num Bum Cafe at Stokers Siding. The burgers at the Mooball Moo Moo Cafe are awesome. Well done to Better by Bike and the Shire Council for making this a truly memorable experience. Can't wait to ride this rail trail again.
Five Stars well earned.

It really is better by bike - The rail trail ride is through forest and villages. We have done many rail trail rides in Australia and this one is outstanding. The service by the Better by Bike group was excellent, delivering the bikes to us at Mooball so we could ride south to north, and then arriving on time to collect them. They were professional and super-helpful

Northern Rivers Rail trail a must do. - Excellent service and the sales people were so friendly.
The ride in itself is fantastic and the Moo Moo roadhouse is incredible. Great food nice friendly people running the show and happy.
We got a flat tyre and the E Hire people were prompt at replacing the bike.
So to those people leaving tacks on the path get a life the country is for everyone to enjoy.

Peter & Katja's Excellent Day Out - Highly recommend the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. Turnkey service offered by Better By Bike located track side at Murwillumbah station. Hied EBikes and smashed thew trail in under four hours which included a couple of stops (48kms total return).
Will be recommending this activity to all. Great day out in stunning Northern Rivers countryside.

Brilliant day on e-bikes. - Great customer service and the e-bikes were brilliant. The trail ride was very beautiful. I would highly recommend doing the trail ride and renting your e-bike from Better by Bike.

Great fun riding e-bikes! - Haven’t ridden a bike for decades so approached the e-bike adventure with a little trepidation. Leo from Better by Bike Murwillumbah provided a comprehensive introduction to E-bike operation and even took a photo of us next to the Rail Trail sign! 🙏
Had the best day. E-bike was so easy & fun we rode the full 49 kms with a couple of stops along the way - we’ll be back for sure. 👍 🌈
