Highlights
  • Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park - The Navajo culture has thrived on the land between the Four Scared Mountains, and those teachings have been inherited through generations of verbal and lesson teaching methods. Some of these teachings are shared with you during the Cultural Tour by your Navajo guide.

The Cultural, 3.5 hour tour makes a first stop at the famous John Ford’s Point where many of John Wayne’s western cinematic movies were filmed. Next, your guide will drive to The Backcountry of the park and escort you to the “Sun’s Eye Arch” and Hogan Demonstration.

At “Sun’s Eye Arch” you will be standing at a specific degree to look up into the rock arch and see why it is named Sun’s Eye. At the same location you will also see Petroglyphs and hear your guide’s stories.

Next, you will travel to the “Big Hogan.” The Big Hogan is a great place to take family pictures and lie against the rocks and feel its warmth. Your guide will provide stories and suggest great photo shots.

The last stop in the Backcountry is the “Ear of the Wind.” This is the largest arch in the park, and your guide will escort you to a photogenic spot where you can take photographs.

Next, you will be guided to the Totem Pole and Yei Bi Cheii Monuments where you will be able to take photographs and hear the cultural stories behind each monument. The last stop is at the North Window where you will have a chance to take pictures of the Mittens and Butte at a different angle. Your tour guide will then slowly and safely transport you back to your departure point.

Unfortunately, we cannot give much information about our guides’ stories because each guide has very uniquely different stories to tell. Our guides’ stories come from personal experience, lore, legends and the Navajo culture.

Great experience!! - We are a French family with two children (8 and 12 years old) and we booked this tour several months in advance. We have received emails confirming the Reservation and giving clear instructions on the meeting point and time. Once there, everything went as advertised, organization at the top. The little trick: we were lucky enough to be the only ones to book this 3h30 tour and frankly, it took no less time! The other tourists present at the meeting point had booked tours of 1h30 and 2h30, but I honestly believe that is not enough. The 3h30 passed very quickly, even for the children, because it was really an extraordinary experience. Our Navajo Guide, Yvonne, was just great (I wouldn’t say the same about other guides in the area like Antelope Canyon, for example). Patient with our many questions, she was very attentive and her explanations were both clear and very interesting. In addition she took beautiful photos of us 4 with my phone, she knew perfect viewpoints and cleverly used the filters of the Iphone, for just sublime memories. Our children even thanked her with a huge hug at the end. This is an experience I recommend 200%, go for it!

Fantastic - With the fantastic Guide Yvonne a 3.5 hour tour through Monument Valley. She told us a lot about the culture and history. Made several stops to take pictures of the beautiful views, where we got tips for even better pictures. Along the way visited a traditional Hogan with demonstration and enjoyed the music she made for us. Driven around very relaxed and took our time. Super

Magic Monument Valley - It was the best experience of the whole tour in the parks of the west: the Monument Valley is magical and moving and the tour allows you to appreciate even places forbidden to the tour on your own. Very interesting cultural deepening. The guide was extremely helpful and really exhaustive and kind. The vehicle very comfortable, water available and times absolutely reasoned. The cost is compared to what it offers.

Fabulous cultural and scenic tour - This was our second cultural tour of Monument Valley and Yvonne was our guide again!!! She is so knowledgeable and the perfect tour guide. We love this tour, a must do at Monument Valley. We were greeted at MV by a torrential thunderstorm. We were VERY pleasantly surprised the next day that our 3.5 hour tour took place as planned even though the Valley was closed to traffic. Love, love MV, truly a magical place!

Mystery visit - Monument Valley was closed due to heavy rains. The tour guide took us on a 3 1/2 hour tour of mystery Canyon instead. Mystery Canyon was amazing and well worth substitution.

Awesome Monument Valley tour - My husband and I had a wonderful 3-1/2 hour solo tour led by Vander. He shared so much about the Navajo culture and beautiful Monument Valley iconic landmarks, including stops at many truly epic photo opportunities. We really enjoyed the musical interlude shared with another tour group in the natural amphitheater of Eye of the Sun and the hogan visit with a Diné weaver and jewelry maker. Great experience and great tour guide!
