• Moab - Arrive at Desert Highlights in the morning (pick-up available upon request) where your guide will outfit you with all of the necessary gear for canyoneering and rafting. We’ll drive your group to the start of the canyon and hike across ancient sand dunes to our first rappel. Desert Highlights has experienced and knowledgeable guides that will literally “show you the ropes”, ensuring your safety and teaching you everything you need to know to descend the canyon safely. After 2 exhilarating rappels and a beautiful hike out, we’ll hop in the van and drive along the Colorado River. We’ll have a chance to eat lunch, talk about river safety and choose the best put-in based on your groups abilities and goals for the afternoon. We’ll soon launch on the river and float through rapids or enjoy a scenic flat-water float - whichever your heart desires!

Desert Highlights was the pioneer in introducing canyoneering guide services in Moab. We offer guided canyoneering and packrafting tours following a path established by the founder of Desert Highlights as a technical guided canyoneering course back in the late 1990’s. This exploration of the canyon allows us to reach parts that are generally not visited by the public. Through the utilization of ropes, technical equipment, expert guidance and a zest for adventure, we can access regions that are usually unreachable. We equip you with single-seater, inflatable boats (packrafts) for an enjoyable and scenic float on the Colorado River, a unique experience not offered by any other company in Moab.

The Moab desert is where we live and we savour sharing our love for it with others. On your tour with us, it is not just about the thrilling descent through an exquisite, water-sculpted canyon and the serene float on the section of the Colorado River. You will also gain knowledge about the local plant and animal life, geological aspects and the history of this place which we proudly refer to as our backyard.
