Highlights
  • The Mitten Buttes And Merrick Butte - First, we’ll assign you a horse based on your experience, weight, and height. Then we’ll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, followed by the East Mitten Butte. They are also known together as, The Mittens. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it’s between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.
  • Sentinel Mesa - Located northwest of The Mittens, it’s a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from the Monument Valley Visitor Center.

Bucket List. An absolute must do. - Bucket list experience ticked off. A fantastic way to see part of the one of the most stunning places on the planet. Also a fantastic way to find a bit of tranquility and really get a sense of the majesty of the buttes and landscape. Our guide was informative and gave a lot of detail about the flora and fauna of the area and how certain plants are used in a host of applications from medicines to cosmetics. As an inexperienced rider, there was a few pre-tour nerves, but these were unfounded as the tour was an absolutely wonderful experience. If you're visiting Monument Valley, this tour is a must. And do the two-hour option too. You get to see, hear and learn so much.

Had a great time playing cowboy in Monument Valley! - The tour was fantastic. The team (Niko, Logan and Nelson) leading the tour did the great job getting all of us beginners situated with horses and they were a lot of fun throughout the tour. Everyone in our family had a great time with the horses and our guides. I recommend this tour without hesitation. A specially thanks to Larry for helping me with some last minute adjustments to my reservation. I really appreciate your help with making it happen for me and my family. You went the extra step to help us and we are very thankful.

Navajo nation, horse, scenery, what more do you need? - Monument valley is already a stunning location but to view the land from horse back with a Navajo guide was truly a world class experience. Our lead was Dion, his kindness, patience, and knowledge was incredible and invaluable. We cannot be more thankful for this experience.

2 hours of insight, fun and a great way to see Monument Valley - Logan took us out on an unforgettable journey through Monument Valley. If you are planning on coming to the Valley this is the best thing you can book. The 2 hours we were trekking flew by as Logan explained to us the highlights of the Valley, its history - including modern history in cinema and TV. It honestly felt like we were in one of those movies! Logan knew his stuff and also takes a mean picture! We felt supported throughout the journey and Logan was really interested with learn where we’d come from and was a good conversationalist. We felt very comfortable to be there. We would recommend this to any couples or families visiting monument valley.

Great experience, but guide to improve - The horseback tour itself was great! Very beautiful places to see from a different perspectives. However, I was a bit disappointed by the guide. The tour guide looked really annoyed by us and kept asking the time, also commenting something like "time goes really slowly". Also, he didn't give us many details about the historical or cultural aspects of the places, he only guided us around the area. I think it would be really appreciated to have more information about the Navajo culture or the history of this epic area given the relatively high price of the experience.
