• Hector Pieterson Memorial - In 1976, the student uprising began in Soweto and spread across the country. Visitors will see the Memorial and the Museum dedicated to this event.

• Mandela House - Located on Vilakazi Street, Nelson Mandela lived in this house with his first wife Evelyn and later with his second wife Winnie Mandela. Visitors will learn about the history of the house and see some of Mandela’s family photographs.

• Regina Mundi - Known as the parliament of Soweto, this is the largest Catholic church in the country. During the 1976 student uprising, students sought refuge here from the police.

• Walter Sisulu Square - Located in Kliptown, the oldest multicultural area in Johannesburg. This is where the Freedom Charter was adopted in 1955.

• FNB Stadium - The FNB Stadium, also known as Soccer City, was the main venue for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

• Orlando Towers - These two cooling towers are a prominent landmark in Soweto, built in 1951 to supply electricity to Johannesburg. Today, they are also used for bungee jumping from a platform between the towers.

• Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct - No other site of incarceration in South Africa has held as many world-renowned figures as Constitution Hill’s Old Fort, Women’s Jail, and Number Four. Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Joe Slovo, Albertina Sisulu, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, and Fatima Meer all served time here. The precinct also confined tens of thousands of ordinary people over its 100-year history, including men and women of all races, creeds, ages, and political beliefs, as well as children. The history of every South African is reflected here. Constitution Hill is a living museum that tells the story of South Africa’s journey to democracy. The site, a former prison and military fort, bears witness to South Africa’s turbulent past and is now home to the Constitutional Court, which upholds the rights of all citizens.

• Apartheid Museum - The Apartheid Museum, the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid. An architectural consortium, comprising several leading firms, designed the building on a seven-hectare site. The museum is an excellent example of design, space, and landscape, offering the international community a unique South African experience.
