Depart from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park via Nelson House in Soweto

Mandela House - We depart from Johannesburg. First we visit the Nelson Mandela House Museum in Soweto. The Nelson Mandela National Museum, commonly referred to as Mandela House, is the house on Vilakazi Street, Orlando West, Soweto, South Africa, where Nelson Mandela lived from 1946 to 1962. It is located at number 8115, at the corner of Vilakazi and Ngakane streets, a short distance up the road from Tutu House, the home of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.

Kruger National Park - From the Mandela House, we start our journey to Kruger National Park. This is a 4 hour journey from Johannesburg. On arrival in Kruger National Park, we relax at the hotel, possibly go for a swim and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

After breakfast we go for a game drive in the Kruger National Park. This is a day largely spent in the bush

Kruger National Park - On day 2 we spend most of the day on game drive in Kruger National Park.

Kruger National Park is South Africa’s most exciting safari destination. Steeped in legend and history, the iconic Kruger National Park is waiting for you to explore its vast landscapes and African wildlife. Take a journey of exploration to find Africa’s Big 5.

After breakfast, depart from Kruger National Park and head to Isimangaliso Wetlands Park

iSimangaliso Wetland Park - On this day we largely travel between Kruger National Park and Isimangaliso Wetlands Park. Along the route, we encouter vast African bushes, a lot of traditional villages and local people.

Saint Lucia Estuary - Enjoy a cruise into the St Lucia Estuary to see hippos, crocodiles and prolific birds.

Discover, Witness, and Observe Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, and Hundreds of bird species on the Hippo & Croc Boat Cruise while in St Lucia. This 2 hour Boat Cruise Safari gets you close up to the residents of the estuary.

After breakfast go for a game drive in the Isimangaliso Wetlands Park

iSimangaliso Wetland Park - We go for a game drive in Isimangaliso Wetlands Park with opportunities to see a wide range of animals.

Isimangaliso Wetlands Park, is certainly one of the most beautiful Parks in South Africa. It is a world heritage site.

On the game drive we are likely to see a large number of animals such as elephants, giraffe, buffalo, kudu, zebra, antelope, and many more.

After breakfast depart from Isimangaliso and head off to Durban

Durban - On arrival in Durban we do a tour of Durban city. Durban is one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the world. Its port is the busiest in South Africa and also one of the 10 largest in the world. Durban is blessed with balmy weather all year round, making it a perfect holiday paradise.

In Durban we visit:

  1. The Moses Mabhida Stadium - an iconic stadium which was built for the 2010 soccer world cup
  2. The Durban Botanic Gardens - one of the oldest in the world with very rare tree species
  3. The Victoria Market - home to a lot of Indian herbs and spices and locally had crafted goods

Depart from Durban after breakfast and head off to Tala Game Reserve, then Natal Lion Park & Nelson Mandela Capture Site

Tala Private Game Reserve - We go for a game drive at Tala Private Game Reserve.

Tala Game Reserve near Durban is home to more than 380 bird species, as well as big game like Rhino, Kudu, Hippo, Giraffe and the rare Sable antelope. Plant species found in this area include the Fiery Aloe, the imposing Euphorbia and fragrant Wild Sage.

The landscapes at this game reserve near are characterized by a mix of acacia thornveld, open grassland and sensitive wetland, providing exceptional game and bird viewing opportunities.

Natal Lion Park - From Tala Game Reserve we proceed a short distance away to Natal Lion Park. Here we get to see lions and elephants.

Nelson Mandela Capture Site - From Natal Lion Park we proceed to Nelson Mandela Capture site in Howick.

Nelson Mandela was arrested on 5 August 1962 outside Howick, Natal, South Africa. He spent the next 27 years of his life in prison.

The Nelson Mandela Capture Site commemorates this moment in history with a visitor museum centre and a world renowned sculpture.

Drakensberg Mountains - From the Nelson Mandela Capture Site we proceed to the Drakensberg Mountains Region for the night.

After breakfast we go for hiking in the Drakensberg Mountains

Drakensberg Mountains - After breakfast we go for hiking in the Drakensberg Mountains.Stretching majestically for 245km, the Drakensberg mountain range forms a natural barrier between the western reaches of KwaZulu-Natal and the Kingdom of Lesotho. This is a mountain range of spectacular natural beauty where golden sandstone and soaring basalt buttresses rise above pristine steep-sided river valleys, rocky gorges and high rolling grasslands.

Drakensberg Garden - After hiking in the Drakensberg Mountains, we depart after large and head off to the Drakensberg Gardens area. This is where we spend the night.

After breakfast we proceed on the Sani Pass tour to Lesotho

Sani Pass - On this day we go on the Sani Pass Lesotho Tour.
The Sani Pass Tour is a thrilling adventure that takes you on a scenic journey through the picturesque landscapes of South Africa and Lesotho. The tour starts in the quaint town of Underberg and takes you up the majestic Sani Pass, a steep and winding mountain road that links South Africa to Lesotho.
As you ascend the pass, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The tour includes stops at various lookout points, where you can take in the stunning scenery and snap some amazing photos. Along the way, you will also pass by traditional villages and see how the local people live.
At the top of the pass, you will cross the border into Lesotho, a small landlocked country known for its rugged beauty and friendly people. The tour includes a visit to a local village, where you can learn about the culture and traditions of the Basotho people.

Travel from Underberg to Howick Falls then to Mthatha

Howick Falls - After breakfast depart from Underberg or Drakensberg Gardens and head off to Howick Falls. Do a tour of the Howick Falls.

Howick Falls are simply breathtaking, and the deafening rush of water from the viewing deck is incredibly relaxing and mystifying at the same time. At 95m, they’re the same height as Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and date back to when Kwazulu Natal was first inhabited by man. Several arts and crafts stalls can be found on the viewing platform and along Morling Road which leads down to the falls.

Mthatha - From Howick Falls proceed to Mthatha. There are a lot of African traditional villages along this route. We experience the real rural South African set up on this travel.

Travel Mthatha to East London

East London - From Mvezo we travel to East London.
On arrival in East London we take time off to relax and visit some fine beaches.

After breakfast we depart from East London and head off to Addo National Park for a game drive

Addo Elephant National Park - At Addo National Park we go for a game drive.
Addo Elephant Park is a national park located in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa. It was established in 1931 to protect the last remaining 11 elephants in the area, and has since grown to be one of the largest national parks in South Africa, covering an area of over 1,600 square kilometers.
As its name suggests, Addo Elephant Park is known for its large population of elephants, which now number over 600. The park is also home to a wide variety of other wildlife, including lions, leopards, buffalo, black rhinos, spotted hyenas, zebras, and many species of antelope.

From Addo National Park we travel to Knysna for the night

After breakfast visit Robberg Nature Reserve

Robberg Nature Reserve - Robberg Nature Reserve is one of the most beautiful Nature Reserves in South Africa. In Robberg Nature Reserve we do hiking.

Plettenberg Bay - From Robberg Nature Reserve we visit Plettenberg Bay. In Plettenberg Bay we also visit one of the popular beaches such as the Lookout Beach.

Knysna Heads - From Plettenberg Bay we go to Knysna Heads to tour this place. Knysna Heads refers to two large cliffs that guard the entrance to the Knysna Lagoon, a popular tourist destination in the Western Cape province of South Africa. These cliffs are located on either side of a narrow channel that connects the lagoon to the Indian Ocean.
The eastern head is a publicly accessible nature reserve that offers scenic viewpoints, hiking trails, and picnic areas. The western head is a private nature reserve that is not open to the public.
The area around Knysna Heads is known for its rich biodiversity and is home to a variety of bird species, marine life, and vegetation. Visitors can enjoy activities such as boating, fishing, and kayaking in the lagoon, or explore nearby attractions such as the Knysna Elephant Park and the Knysna Forest.

Day 13 is for relaxation in the Knysna area, the centre of the garden route

Knysna Boat Charters - Lagoon Boat Cruises, Oyster Tours, Sunset Cruises, Kayak & SUP Hire - We go on a 2 hour boat cruise in Knysna.
We can also do any other optional activities in Knysna or Plettenberg Bay.

Depart from Knysna after breakfast and head off to Cape Alguhus, the Southern most part of South Africa.

Cape Agulhas - We depart from Knysna and head off to Cape Agulhas. We do a tour of Cape Agulhas.

Hermanus - From Cape Agulhas we head off to Hermanus, the world capital for whale watching. Hermanus is known as one of the best places in the world for land-based whale watching. Southern right whales visit the town’s shores from June to December each year, and visitors can see these majestic creatures from the cliffs and beaches in and around the town.

Tour of Hermanus, wine tasting & African Penguins

Hermanus - First we do a tour of this beautiful coastal town in the morning. We visit the old habour and some of the beautiful white sand beaches.

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate - From Hermanus we head off to Benguela Cove wine Estate for some wine tasting. Benguela Cove Wine Estate is a stunning vineyard located in the Walker Bay region of South Africa. The estate is situated on the banks of the Bot River Lagoon and boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and ocean.
The vineyard is known for its premium wines, which are produced using sustainable and environmentally friendly methods. The estate has a wide range of varietals, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz.

Betty’s Bay - From Benguela Cove Wine Estate we head off to Betty’s Bay where see the endengered African Penguins in their natural habitat.

Cape Town - From Betty’s Bay we travel on the scenic Whale Coast Route as we head to Cape Town to end our 15 day tour.
