Private tour Worth the Cost! - We booked a private tour that was well worth the extra cost. Safe, well maintained trails to hike. Our guide, Juan, was friendly and made the trip extremely interesting. His rock climbing experience and knowledge of the geology of the area enhanced the trip. He also included local stories that we appreciated. Take water and a snack. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful scenery - We had a wonderful time at Caminito del Rey. The views and explanations of the formations were excellent. We even saw a few wild pigs down by the water. This is a physical activity with lots of walking. My children were all tired afterwards.

Fantastic trip Caminto del Rey - Wonderful trip to Caminito del Rey. Our guide Thomas was very helpful with our family especially during busy week in Malaga! Trip was exactly as described and smooth with Thomas coordinating the travel and ticketing. Weather was rainy and he thoughtfully provided ponchos and water for us all. Our guide At Caminito del Rey was also good and we enjoyed the hike and scenic views. Excellent way to get to Caminito del Rey with a personalized family feel and comfortable transportation!

Water Mgt in Caminto del Rey - Juan (via viator) was full of information and kept us moving throughout the tour. Wind blowing over the suspension bridge provided an extra element of excitement near the end.

UNESCO WorldHeritage site. Tick. - Just get their group tour tickets online for £18 roughly. Simplzz. Not signposted well at all in the real world, could be a lot better. But a nice day out, no need for walking boot, but some grip required if the wood has been rained on. The website says arrive one hour early, we did two and just made the tour time as parking was an issue in the free car park at point 2 I think it was, ie none left and once u get to the back then it’s a pain to do a tight turn.

Yay for Tina! - Tina was the most enthusiastic, patient , knowledgeable, and friendly guide we have ever had. There were 6 mid seventy year olds in our group. She never showed any surprise or lack of confidence in our abilities. She is the best. Thank you…a highlight of our cruise.

From next to unknown to grand tourist destination? - 25 years ago I saw a picture of a stunning natural feature in an obscure magazine. I got in my rental car and set off, not really knowing where I was going, driving on a road that became more and more scary . Narrow, no guardrail and parts of the road had just disappeared. I clenched my teeth and carried on. And was it worth it! Around a bend, and there it was. Garganta del Chorro .Incredibly high and narrow with a river at the bottom What really got to me, was the remnants of a wooden "walkway" more than halfway up the side of the ravine, culminating in a spindly "hanging bridge". Later I found out that it was created for king Alfonso XIII to observe the huge dams that were constructed as a water reservoir for the the Malaga Province. Therefore the name "Caminito del Rey". And for years I just came back here again and again. Every time it took my breath away. With the landscape around it, the enchanted forest and the wide, blue dams. Very few people seemed to know about it, mostly daredevil climbers. But as with Picasso, who lived his first 8 years in Malaga, but never came back, the powers that be found out that there was money to be had. So they restored the caminito which had been lethal to try walking on. And suddenly tour operators demand up to 275.- euros for the "unique experience" of walking through the gorge. I just fear the typical consequences of too many people discovering it, and then the magic disappears. As has happened so sadly often in other places...
