Wonderful Rioja wine tour! - The wine tour into Rioja was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide was quite friendly and very knowledgeable about the Bilbao and the surrounding areas including the wineries. I highly recommend the tour. The winery owners were welcoming and knowledgeable about their craft. It was a delightful way to spend a day! Great wine too!

Great tour, great guide - Our tour leader, Andrea, was absolutely fantastic. We visited two incredible wineries where we learned about the winemaking process and tasted some of the finest wines I've ever had. Each winery had its own unique charm and character, and the passion of the winemakers was truly inspiring. The highlight of the day was the pintxos lunch. The food was delicious and paired perfectly with the wines. Andrea's knowledge, enthusiasm, and warm hospitality made the tour even more special. Excellent immersion in the Rioja wine experience - Our Rioja wine tour experience was excellent. Our guide, Elba, had a tremendous insight of the area, winemaking, the local culture and adapted the tour and program after our wishes. We highly recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in getting immersed in the Rioja region, tasting excellent wine, dining on pintxos and visiting the medieval town of Laguardia.

Fabulous experience - Recently, I participated in a tour to La Rioja from Bilbao and it was an absolutely amazing experience that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we boarded the comfortable coach to our arrival in the famous wine country, every detail was carefully planned to provide an unforgettable experience. The tour took us through lush vineyards, where we could appreciate up close the unique terroir of La Rioja. The combination of clay, calcareous and alluvial soils, together with an ideal microclimate, makes this region an exceptional place for viticulture. If you love wine and stunning scenery, this tour is a must! Our expert guide, a certified sommelier with years of experience in the wine industry, gave us a detailed explanation of the winemaking process, from vintage to bottling. We learned about the different pruning and vineyard management techniques that contribute to the superior quality of Rioja wines. We visited several wineries, each with its own history and method of elaboration. In a century-old winery, specializing in wine raising, we were able to explore its draughts, impressive underground caves where wines age in French and American oak barrels. The visit to a boutique winery allowed us to get to know the fermentation process in stainless steel and concrete tanks, and taste wines made with native varieties such as Tempranillo, Grenache and Graciano.

Day in La Rioja - Our guide, Elba, was outstanding—she was local and gave a lot of information about the region and life there which added to the experience. The wines were very good—it was fascinating to see so many small independent wineries, many seemingly operating out of their houses. Given the wine, food and information, this was well worth the money—highly recommended.

Not the wineries pictured! - An enjoyable experience, but different to what we expected. The wineries pictured are not the ones you necessarily visit. The “local experts” were basically just the bus drivers who took you to the wineries. The 2 wineries we visited were very different to each other but made a great contrast. Informative experience with plenty of wine flowing! “Light meal” in local town was more pintxos!

Bummed out by Viator - We never made this excursion. It was cancelled 5 minutes before we disembarked from our ship. Shame on your company! We booked this excursion months in advance. The night before we got a text telling us that the company changed the start time to one hour earlier. Knowing we weren’t disembarking until after the new time, we contacted the company and were assured that they would wait for us. Our ship was on time in the port and we were first in line to get off. They called us and said that they would not wait. We were issued a refund, however no apology for ruining our plans and leaving us desserted in a. Foreign country. Most likely will not book with Viator again.
