Covering 2,500 m2 on the ground, it comprises of 9 platforms - 6 square and 3 circular - and is crowned by a central dome.
Prambanan, a Hindu temple and the largest dedicated to Shiva, was initiated around 850 by King Ratan Pikatan. With 224 temples in total, the site resides comfortably within a park. Despite being less frequented than Borobudur, the visit offers sightseers the chance to explore various temples committed to the deities - Shiva the Destroyer, Vishnu the Protector, and Brahma the Creator.
