A Modest Dark History of Split - Fantastic Guide! - Many ghost tours I have been on are theatrical, over the top, and trying to scare you. While this tour was more focussed on the historical concepts and accurate facts, I felt this was a reflection of the Croatian spirit and culture. Modest, straightforward, friendly, fun. That said, the Darker side of Split was fascinating and unexpected! This city is rife with history. Dusen, our Dark Split guide, was very knowledgeable and thorough with his informational tour. He was also able to answer questions fairly and honestly. Being a lifelong local, Dusen had several unique anecdotes about the city and life here through the good times and bad. His love for the city is evident. Further, Dusen appeared well connected in Split, having intimate knowledge of local festivals, being greeted by friends while we toured, and so on. We really enjoyed the guide and the tour!!

A Fun Learning Experience! - We had a great time ducking down alleys and learning about unique moments from Split’s history from our wonderful guide, Dasan. I booked this tour last-minute and I was so glad I did…definitely take the opportunity to learn about the rich Croatian past from a local (and the craft beer he offered us at the end of the journey was a nice touch!)

This is exactly the tour you want - Small group, no more than 8, great tour guide and an interesting way to learn the history. It’s funny and interesting to learn where the whores and drug addicts used to hang out. Dasen gives you all this plus the required history you need to grasp the complications of ancient and modern Croatia. Why do you see shopping bags with Diocletian and cabbages? What could be so important to the inhabitants of Split that they would leave the safety of their walls to attack a much greater force? Sign up - it’s well worth it!

Dark Tour of Split - Dasen provided a fantastic tour! He gave the history of Split and Diocletian's Palace giving historical context. The tour was well organized and structured. We twisted through the streets and alleys of the palace hearing both ancient and modern stories. It started raining but that did not detour Dasen. Dasen's knowledge and story telling skills are a perfect way to get a different perspective on the history. Worth it! I wish he was able to do the same in Dubrovnik.

The Best Way To Get To Know Split - I can highly recommend this tour! Dasen is a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. My friend and I learned so much about the ancient history of Split as well as some ‘darker’ aspects left out of the tourist guides..... A great way to spend an hour or two. Don’t miss this tour. There is beer too!
