Plitvice Lakes National Park - Plitvice are known as a natural phenomenon because they keep changing through sedimentation of calcium carbonate and create special kinds of algae and moss, tufa or travertine which has been deposited and is still deposited to form the natural dams that separate the lakes. Since the process is ongoing today, just as it always has, new travertine barriers, curtains, stalactites, channels, and cascades are built as the existing ones keep changing. So it doesn’t matter if you have visited the lakes before, they probably look different now, so you can visit them again and never be bored. Besides the lakes, there are some interesting caves in which remains of prehistoric settlements have been found.

From the Windy City - This was just what we were looking for! We had coffee and a pastry on the street before meeting our guide and group. There are some places that are open before 7:30 AM. After meeting up with our group, we hopped on a bus for about 2 hours. Our guide was FABULOUS! They explained the country and gave fun facts in the process. We stopped at a gas station. If you didn’t eat before, this is where you should eat before the walk. Another 2 hr drive to get to the park. Once we arrived, our 2 groups split up (self guided/guided). We were in the self guided tour. Despite the bigger groups and rain, the park was beautiful! We definitely got our steps in and took beautiful pictures! Thank you Antonia!
