• Knuckles Mountain Range - The Knuckles Mountain Range lies in central Sri Lanka, north-east of the city of Kandy. The range takes its name from a series of recumbent folds and peaks in the west of the massif which resemble the knuckles of clenched fist when viewed from certain locations in the Kandy District. Whilst this name was assigned by early British surveyors, the Sinhalese residents have traditionally referred to the area as Dumbara Kandu Watiye meaning mist-laden mountain range. The entire area is characterised by its striking landscapes often robed in thick layers of cloud but in addition to its aesthetic value the range is of great scientific interest. It is a climatic microcosm of the rest of Sri Lanka.

Your guide will greet you at your Kandy hotel at 7.30 AM. Experience a stroll through an authentic Sri Lankan Rice field and Vegetable garden, and visit the Tampita Temple. A trek to the peak of Riverston, a gem amongst the ridges of the Knuckles mountain range, awaits you. Feel free to pause for a lunch break along the way. You may also embark on a trekking adventure to Riverston’s peak via Pitawala-path, where the mini-world’s end can be visited. Don’t miss the Duwili Ella Falls, found 28 km from Riverston. The journey concludes with a return to your Kandy hotel by day’s end.
