Dominated by the ancient Minneriya Wewa, the park has plenty of scrub, forest and wetlands in its 88.9 sq km to also provide shelter for toque macaques, sambar deer, buffalo, crocodiles and leopards (the latter are very rarely seen, however).
There are rarer animals for groups to spot in the park, such as the Sri Lankan leopard and Sri Lankan sloth bear, however both are elusive and more difficult to see. Conditions in the park provide a well-suited habitat for up to 160 bird species, including water birds such as pelicans, storks and herons.

Great safari - Sudath is a great guide - knows all the places to look for animals and is great at spotting them. We saw tons of elephants, birds, monkeys, and deer. Sudath was also extremely respectful of the animals and balanced perfectly between getting good looks and govog them their space.

Amazing tour in Sri Lanka Thanks Sudath, Love It! - This was our couple trip in Sri Lanka. Great communication right from booking with Sudath Safari and Tours; we know all details about our driver and guide via the online platform. His name was Sudath. It's great that he named his tour company by himself. Sudath picked us up from the Dambulla Jet Seeing Lake Hotel. He was already waiting for us. We started our journey at 1:00 p.m. He drives very disciplined, and we are going to Minneriya National Park. On the way to the park, he gave us a lot of knowledge about Sri Lankan traditional food places and people's way of life. He spoke English so well that he had no difficulty understanding us. We spent an amazing time in the park, and we were lucky enough to see so many elephants, birds, and a variety of other animals. We also enjoyed the natural beauty of the park's greenery. As people from outside Sri Lanka, safety is a big issue here, and we have always felt secure with Sudath. We finished our tours at 5.30 p.m. . I will always remember this trip in my life, and I will visit Sri Lanka again in the future. Thank you so much, Sudath, for spending such time with us and helping us to enjoy our journey beautifully. We pray for you. Also highly recommended to Sudath Safari and Tours.

Don’t miss this opportunity - Sudath is such a knowledgeable person who took time to explain all the niche aspects of the forest with details about how and why the animals thrived. He knows all the cool spots when you will see all the amazing wildlife and the majestic tuskers. He helped with some amazing pics for the trip and really very helpful. Thanks Sudath

Lovely safari 🐘💙 - Our guide, Sanju, was awesome ! Super respectful, funny, cute and peaceful. He had the best eye to see the small wild animals and we enjoyed a lot the safari. The view of the elephants was incredible. We recommend him 100%

Wonderful safari with the best driver - We went this morning and the experience was amazing. Our driver has been watching us at all times and has been concerned to find Top-rated places to find elephants. We have also been very calm with him, you can see that he has the car experience and that he knows how to handle situations with these animals. A 10!!!
