Great adventure and memories! - Great experience a lot of elephant families! Lahiru helped us also to arrang the cheaper and good transportation to the Safari Park and found lot of elephants and other animals too. The safari trip took 4 hours so we had enough time to admire the animals. No rush. You can observe animals as long as you want. Thank you Lahiru Prasad for the the great memories you gave us.

See Elephants very close! - We went to the safari in the afternoon (2:45 - 6pm) in a jeep organised by our driver. Entrance fee was 22,500 rupees + the cost of our jeep and guide which was 9000 (about £75 in total). We saw so many elephants and they came very very close! The elephants seemed happy and calm, even when jeeps were near. They are obviously used to them and do not see us as a threat. We also saw a number of different birds, our favourite being the peacocks, a toucan and the little green bee-eater. As we went in August, which is their dry season, the lakes were almost all dried up but we were still lucky enough to see two small crocodiles. We would definitely recommend a safari at Udawalawe.

Amazing day with amazing guide - We had a fantastic experience with nature guide lahiru (WhatsApp +94 76 272 6799). We saw dozens of animals - elephants, crocodiles, several birds (from eagle to kingfisher), varan, snake, mungo, water buffalo, monkeys and more. Lahiru knows the park, the animals and the vegetation like the back of his hand. He is fluent in English, also very good in German and picks you up from your hotel. We would book him again!

Cool safari with a great guide - Me and my girlfriend had this safari in mid August with the amazing guide Lahiru Prasad. Overall the experience was really great, particularly due to the number of animals we were able to see despite the drought of this period (it was 5 months since the last proper rain in the park). We had a total of roughly 4 hours of safari, until the park closing around 18:30. The tour was really enjoyable and Lahiru (with the driver) was really amazing and funny. He literally embrace the mission to allow us seeing the greatest amount of animals possible and the elephants as close as possible; he didn’t stop until he succeeded (lucky us!). He also tried to go often far from the tracks most run by the other jeeps, so to let us enjoy more the safari and see better the animals. We particularly enjoyed also the sunset when going to the exit of the park, hence we recommend the afternoon slot for the tour. Finally, we recommend to contact directly the guide, Lahiru Prasad: our hotel booked him for us, but you can reach him at WhatsApp (+94 76 272 6799).

Wild Elephants :) - Our guide was fantastic, very observant and we were lucky to see crocodiles, elephants :) and lots of birds. On arrival it was very busy and lots of 4x4s crowded together, mostly empty which was sad as we could have shared vehicles and reduced the traffic. However, once we got properly into the park it was much quieter and barely saw anyone else. Lovely picnic spot by the river and the baby elephant made me happy

Average - We want in the afternoon and saw maybe 4 elephants, some deer and some monkeys. The park is mostly filled with birds and peacocks which isn't that interesting for us. The price was pretty expensive for not seeing much over 3hrs. A lot of aimless driving. 8000lkr to hire a Jeep and 23000lkr 2ppl entrance fee. We also did Kaudulla NP (in the north), which we enjoyed a lot more.

Frustrating - We entered the park thinking that we would see many animals and I don't know if it was because of the time of year or because we entered at 11:00 that in the 3 hours we were there we saw two groups of elephants of 4-5 animals each, some birds and nothing more. I certainly would not advise it, although insisting that it was our experience that may be conditioned.
