Long and bumpy with an amazing climax. - We arrived at the elephant zone at 2pm ,  1hour before the other 20 jeeps because their tour doesn’t begin till 3pm  where this 6hr tour begun at 10:30am. This was a tremendous advantage to see a herd of 20 elephants in a truly tranquil and beautiful  setting. Make sure the tour get you to the elephants  by 2pm.  Be aware however that the downside of this 6hr tour is  3 hours of tedious scrubland along  spine jarring bumpy  trails  to see a few animals you will see anywhere.  The point is you don’t get deeper in to the park and see more elephants for the additional 3hrs. First you get    a pretty  lake with some birds and water buffalo. Then you visit one  small wetland with flocks of ibis. Stalks, pelicans. Then you arrived at the same elephants as other tours , but at 2pm. Maybe ask the driver to drop two hours off the tour and miss the  lake section, pretty as it was, because the additional scrubland drive was  long and spine jarring. Arriving at the elephants well before other afternoon tours at 2pm, made this tour a good choice.

Amazing elephant-heavy safari - Amazing, elephant-heavy safari. I went with Prabath (English speaking guide) and his brother (driver) and had a wonderful time. We got to see a small herd of elephants, including babies and a tusked male, playing in the water, as well as several other elephants quite close - including an adolescent who walked right up to us and gave himself a mud bath in front of the car. We also saw monkeys, crocodiles, buffalos, lizards and many different birds, including peacocks and predator birds. The roads aren’t easy, but the driver was excellent and managed extremely well. The guide was nice and friendly, and pointed out several animals I would have missed without his help. All in all an excellent tour that I highly recommend. The driver taking me to and from Ella was also great. Incredibly smooth ride and he even had pillows in the car that you could put against the window and use to rest/sleep for the fairly long drive.

Great time at Udalwalawe - Had a great time on the safari. The driver was ver attentive and we were able to see all of the main attractions in the park, including more than 10 elephants. The tour operators also reserved transfers for us from Katagarama to Udawalawe, and from Udawalawe to Hikkaduwa after the safari.

Wonderful experience and top service! - Me and my sister were picked up at our hotel on time and had a lovely safari. The guides were super friendly and we saw so many animals. Even on the way to the national park, we got to see an elephant that was standing like 2 meters away. Thanks for a great experience!

Overpriced. Better options can be found directly y on the spot - Price: In my opinion this tour massively overpriced. In that area you can get it a lot cheaper from any hotel. Just book your living and apply to the hotel to arrange it for you. For example, our friends for 180 usd had at a beautiful camp experience, which included a night stay, breakfast and dinner and a safari trip too. Ethics: I didn't like how the drivers of the jeeps surrounded am elephant family and blocked them the road for 40 minutes waiting for tourists to take photos. It's not better than the zoo with such an approach Timing: started super early but in fact elephants usually appear at 9-10 so for 3 hours you are just waiting in the jeep, looking at peacocks (it's fun the first hour though) Yes we saw some antilopes, crocodile, monkeys, that was nice, but again, for elephants it's better to start the tour later probably Efficiency: why not to sell tickets for a better price but in a shared jeeps? I mean, we dont need a jeep just to ourselves, it's a waste IMHO. So there are loads of jeeps filled with 1 /2 people only. Probably it's better to group tourists and share the price for the jeep
