Good entertainment with food and drinks - We enjoyed very entertaining three and a half hours with Garry (yes - two r’s) on the Wine, Cocktail and Food tour. The experience started well ahead of the scheduled meeting time when Garry called us to make sure we knew where to go and when to arrive. He monitored our two-hour drive from High Springs until our arrival at the hotel (you do not want to drive to the event - for once, parking in St Augustine is expensive and difficult and above all, after all the alcohol driving is not recommended until the next day). Garry was loud and friendly and entertaining (and like many good entertainers a little full of himself) and sometimes hyperbolic about the great history of St. Augustine. There was only one other couple and this small group size gave plenty of opportunity to ask questions and engage in friendly banter. Garry mixed historic anecdotes with personal stories that were mostly funny and maybe should not be fact checked. But who fact-checks a good show - it takes away the fun. Food and drinks were good and plenty and also came with some Garry hyperbole (“the best barbecue on the planet”). Interesting brief glimpses that make you want to look deeper (like the Greek museum) and a surprise visit to an art gallery at the end. So if you like good entertainment garnished with historical facts and a lot of friendly banter, this is your event.
