The day began with a crisp breeze and the promise of adventure as I was picked up from my hotel in downtown St. John’s. The city, with its vibrant streets and colorful houses, was already buzzing with energy. Our guide, a local with a wealth of knowledge, greeted us warmly and ushered us into a comfortable van. With only two couples on the tour, it felt intimate and personal, a perfect setting for exploring the highlights of St. John’s.

Our first stop was the Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site. As we drove along the scenic route, the guide narrated stories of the area’s rich history and the significance of the lighthouse. We also drove through Quidi Vidi Village, a place I had hoped to explore on foot. Unfortunately, time constraints meant we could only admire it from the van, a slight disappointment in an otherwise fantastic tour.

St. John’s had revealed its many layers, from the rugged beauty of Cape Spear to the historic heights of Signal Hill, and the vibrant urban landscape.
