Great tour - Was sceptic about taking this tour after reading these reviews, but I suppose there are Victor Meldrews everywhere! We did the South and North Tours back to back, was lovely to see all the island, the bus was old, but that didn't matter, what mattered to us was the views! Also value for money.

Broke down hop on/ hop off bus - I chose the south route which started off fine but after about an hour the bus had an engine problem and replacement bus was organised. Passengers were dropped off at S10 and were told we can continue on north route (bus was waiting) or wait 45 mins for the next bus to continue the south route. That was not a choice for many guests as travellers had made other arrangements for the day. Therefore a further bus arrived and took travellers back to their starting point. I never got to see the 2nd half of the tour.

North and south heritage pass - Packed buses. Half the stops they didn't tell you . We was on south tour wanted to go ghar delam the bus stopped we thought just a traffic lights. But it was for the stop so missed . Unorganised chaos at bus stops especially mdina which was a free for all. Doesn't help being 2 different companies doing hop on buses and people getting confused. The commentary was nearly non existence

Avoid this trip - Joined in Mellieha but didn’t realise that the 1.25 hours would be pick ups en route before the bus tour started. The sound system was poor with lots of interference which possibly didn’t matter as the commentary was very limited and gave little information about this fascinating island. A long, slow return journey meant we spent about 8 hours on the road for a 2.5 hours’ trip. Very disappointing and would not recommend.

The quintessential tourist trap - DO NOT waste your money on this! The buses are over-crowded and don’t run to schedule. And don’t imagine yourself sitting at the top of that bus with the wind in your hair, you’ve got a much better chance of standing downstairs. The commentary is a joke. Even when it was able to be heard it was virtually non-existent; for most of the journey there was nothing. My understanding might have been that, having paid €25, I would have been offered some historical and cultural information about Malta - we weren’t. The buses are not well-maintained: seats were damaged and many of the ports for the ‘commentary’ were not functioning. This is far too long a route to function as a Hop On-Hop Off bus. We got off at Marsaxlokk Fishing Village and had originally intended to get off again at Hagar Qim. However, when we were not in time for the 13.30 bus we realised we would not have time to catch the 14.30 bus, see the site and be confident of a trip back to Valletta; after our morning experience we were not sure we would get on a bus at all. Instead, download the app for the public bus system and do a bit of planning.

Don't bother - Wasre of time. Ambushed as we got off the ship. Commentary wasn't working. Driver was very rude to everyone. Hardly saw anything. . Avoid

Avoid! - My wife and I have used City Sightseeing tours in Florence, Edinburgh and Dublin, they were all worth doing. The Malta version is best avoided though. Not too much to add to the other negative reviews, rude staff, no information, overcrowded dirty buses, dodgy headphone system, and most irritatingly it's not a proper hop on hop off service. Staff could be aggressive and treated you like an inconvenience. Malta is a beautiful island nation with a fantastic and cheap bus network, all air conditioned, use them instead!

If you want to lose patience, time and money - I can recommend it. - First bus was 3 minutes early so we didnt manage to reach it. Second is already 45minutes late and we're still not aboard. If you want to lose patience, money and time I surely can recommend it.
