Once in a lifetime tour of Teotihuacan - David's tour far exceeded my expectations.
We spent a full day with him at Teotihuacan and, a week later, I am still thinking about the tour and everything we learned from him. David isn't just a fantastic tour guide, but he is also an archeologist who has first-hand experience doing archeology in this area. It was so fascinating to hear David's insider details about the excavation of the area and the people who are studying its artefacts. Davi'd enthusiasm and love for the subject shone through during the entire (9 hour) day. He kept up his incredible sense of humour and wonderful attitude to the very last moment of our tour when he dropped us back off at our hotel. I have never been on a tour with a guide who has spent so much time preparing in advance and thinking through the structure, pace, and content of his tour in order to tailor it specifically to our needs. If you are looking for an elevated tour experience, I absolutely recommend David. You won't regret it.

Highlight of our Whole Trip! - David's tour of Teotihuacan was the highlight of our trip to Mexico. He is such a knowledgeable and engaging tour leader, but even more importantly, a really fun person to spend a whole day with, talking about Mexico past and present. He made a whole, customized tour book for our full day site visit, complete with photos of artefacts, excavations and renders of what the pyramids looked like painted; he has a VR set up allowing you to explore areas unopen to the public; and he is a pleasure to talk with as you explore the well know and lesser known areas of the site. Contact him to ask about private hotel pick up/transport from the city to the site if you'd like to avoid the drive yourself/the bus. Plan your whole trip to Teotihuacan around David's availability!

Book this tour if you want the best Teotihuacán experience - 100/10 - this tour was awesome. David is such a passionate and knowledgeable guide. Throughout the tour he was able to connect with each person, chat w them about their interests + what they’re curious about, which made it all that much more interactive + interesting. From the pyramids to exploring the palace, David brings excitement and a true understanding to each stop along the tour. Even if you’re not a guided tour person, this one is worth it.
Bonus points if you go to La Gruta after!!

An Amazing Tour of Teotihuacan with the Most Friendly, Knowledgable Guide! - When we began booking our trip to Mexico City, we knew that touring Teotihuacan would be one of the most important parts of the trip. I began screening many experience options, but a lot of tours offered additional stops throughout the day that we didn't feel like we needed. We wanted an educational experience that would leave us talking about the site long after the tour, and that's when I found Un Joven Arqueologo Tours with David. We couldn't have picked a better option!
A few days before the tour, David reached out on WhatsApp to connect and welcome us to Mexico City, as well as provide us with helpful directions and instructions for the upcoming tour. He also offered to pick us up from our apartment in Mexico City for an extra fee which was a great option, though we ended up just taking the bus anyway.
We met around 8am at the site the day of the tour, and quickly met David while immediately jumping right in. The day was cool and the site uncrowded at opening, so we were able to see a nearly unobstructed site as we walked around and learned about the site. David really knows his stuff, so be prepared to learn! He isn't someone who memorized a script and gives tours for work, he truly talks the talk and walks the walk. As an actual archeologist, David has a deep connection with this site, and has participated in digs and has a relationship with the leading archeologists of Teotihuacan. You will leave the tour with more than just a causal understanding of the culture and site, but with a deep appreciation of their lives and the way the history impacts the modern cultures of Mexico.
Be prepared to walk a lot, bring snacks and water and lunch if you need to. There are vendors at the site to buy additional food or drinks from if you want to pack lightly. David drives from location to location in his car with you, so you don't have to worry about trekking the entire site, but due to the size of the location, there will still be a lot of walking.
One of the best parts of the tour is a side quest we take to a lesser-visited suburban site where we tour the ruins of a private home just off of the main strip of ruins. It's open to the public, but was empty when we visited and it made the experience that much better. It's especially fascinating if you're into ancient art and design, as there are plenty of original art pieces on the walls that are fading quickly with time, and are likely to be washed away in the next few decades.
At the end of the tour, David offered to drop us off in the car at the restaurant we wanted to visit, and then gave us clear instructions on how to get back to the bus stop afterwards. He also offered to give us tours of other things like the Archeology Museum in Mexico City if we wanted, though our trip was too short to find time for a full tour, though we'd love to do it next time we visit to appreciate the museum as best we can!
David is extremely kind, knowledgable and fun to spend the day with, and his passion for history and continually learning more is not unnoticed. He has incorporated a VR experience into the tour which is a cool way to see parts of the ruins that are not available to the public, as well as a look into what the space would look like during a different time. If you have the time and an eagerness to learn something new, whether you were initially interested in the history or not, I highly recommend this tour. You'll leave Mexico City with a satisfaction that you successfully visited the Teotihuacan ruins and you'll be telling all your friends and family about it for weeks!

David Sets the Standard - David was the first tour guide we signed up with during our visit to Mexico City, and he set a new standard for what a proper guide should be. He was punctual and provided clear instructions about our itinerary for the day and how we should prepare.
During the tour, we delved into the history of Teotihuacan from a professional and educational perspective. David had prepared Q&As, shared fun facts, and even provided a VR headset to illustrate the original landscapes.
If your goal is to fully immerse yourself in the Teotihuacan experience, this is the tour to opt for. David was kind, thoughtful, and engaging, and I highly recommend his tour.

Un Joven Arqueólogo is the best. - David is truly a geek's dream come true! Friendly, engaging, and supremely enthusiastic. My wife and I would catch glimpses of other tours and it only solidified our opinion that we "won." Insight and inside info from a legitimate professional doing his grad work in archaeology - you will see and hear about things that no other tour will touch on. Ours was beyond comprehensive and he didn't balk at taking extra time because we were asking so many questions.

Amazing day at Teotihuacan with David! - David (Pakalito) was the kindest, most knowledgeable, thoughtful guide for our day at Teotihuacan. His knowledge about the history of the site (as well as several other archeological sites across the world) is incredible. He took us to some less trafficked areas around the site and gave us an understanding of the interaction between the ancient historical sites and the modern community surrounding the area. It was easily the best guided tour I have ever done, and we will absolutely be reaching out to book other guided experiences with him next time we’re in CDMX. Thanks Pakalito!

The best guide, a great experience. - The experience with David was wonderful. We went on a tour in the historic center and another day to Teotihuacan. Not only he have extensive knowledge in archaeology and history, but he also makes the experience truly unique, full of special details and added a lot of value that would be unlikely to be found in any other tour. Additionally, he is an excellent person who makes the interaction very pleasant, like another friend in the group. I highly recommend him, always.

Highlight of our cdmx trip! - We are usually not big fans of going on tours or experiences, but we ended up getting this tour with David after a lot of comparison, and it was one of the best decisions of our trip. David has both years of training and a lot of expertise as an archaeologist and a guide. His presence and sharing gave us an in-depth understanding of Teotihuacan and pre-Aztecan time in Mesoamérica, which we enjoyed a lot. (He also prepared booklets and VR experience which definitely added a lot to the sight) And we loved that his perspective on the excavations through recent history added more layers to the site, so we knew where all the guessing around Teotihuacan originated from.
A big plus of the experience was the fact that we happened to be able to enjoy a private tour with him, so we had plenty of time with him and we didn’t feel rushed or glossed over at all. It was also fairly easy to get in touch with him about arranging transportation from CDMX to the site with reasonable price. He is also very generous about sharing his knowledge on virtually everything about Mexican culture, ie food, districts, …
For anyone who is tempted, go with this trip! Just remember to bring a strong sunscreen and hat for sun protection!

Tope Teotihuacan Tour Guide - Over a week we went on four separate tours around different Mesoamerican sites and sadly, the other three tours did not compare to our first tour with David. The tour at Teotihuacan was informative, down to Earth and when we stepped away from the main avenue site to view one of the nearby palaces, it really put the sheer size and importance of this site into perspective.
David has an excitement being here that can't be replicated by non experts. He can graciously answer any questions you may have about what is known at this site, the surrounding region and the other Pre Colombian peoples of Mesoamerica.
The contrast in knowledge you overhear from other guides at the site, in comparison to David's explanations of the structures, people and ancient culture of Teotihuacan is striking. Everyone on our tour (some of whom had been on past visits to Teotihuacan) were captivated and engaged the entire time with David. I'm happy that this was the highlight of our trip as this was the most worthwhile guided tour you can experience.
