- National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida - This temple, the largest in the nation, is home to the 36 cm statue of Our Lady of Aparecida.
The sanctuary is the world’s largest dedicated to Mother Mary, attracting 12 million pilgrims annually, making it Brazil’s primary pilgrimage destination.
Besides the statue, the basilica features the Chapel of Candles, where devotees offer prayers. Each weekend, up to 10 tons of paraffin are removed from the site. The Hall of Promises contains thousands of objects and photographs from devotees who have experienced miracles.
- Passarela da Fé - Footbridge of Faith
This structure, 392 meters long and reaching 35 meters at its highest point, links the National Sanctuary of Aparecida to the Old Basilica.
The footbridge is a traditional pilgrimage route where many pilgrims cross on their knees to fulfill promises made to Our Lady of Aparecida. It also provides a panoramic view of Brazil’s largest Catholic temple.
- Matriz Basilica Nossa Senhora Aparecida - Old Basilica
Known as the Old Basilica, this church is located in downtown Aparecida and served as a gathering place for pilgrims before the National Sanctuary was built. Today, the two churches are connected by the Footbridge of Faith.
Construction began in 1845 and was completed in 1888. The church was designated as the Basilica of Aparecida by the Vatican in 1908. In 1982, it was recognized as a monument of historical, religious, and architectural significance.
- Teleférico - The cable car links the National Sanctuary to the Hill of Santo Cruzeiro, with approximately 2,000 visitors riding daily.
The cable car route spans about 1,170 meters and rises 115 meters, crossing over a major nearby highway.
- Morro do Cruzeiro - Hill of Santo Cruzeiro is accessible via cable car. Devotees also ascend Morro do Cruzeiro in procession to commemorate the Way of the Cross. Along the path, there are 14 stations that reflect on the final steps of Jesus Christ to Calvary.
The hill is 900 meters long and 83 meters high.
- Rio de Janeiro - After a spiritually enriching day, the journey returns to Rio, where the tour began. There will be an opportunity to discuss interests and expertise, whether in religion or the cultural history of the area.
