- Parque Nacional da Tijuca - Before the 19th century, Rio de Janeiro was encircled by the Atlantic rainforest. Today, what remains is the 13-square-mile (33-square-kilometer) jungle known as Tijuca National Park. Adorned with tropical trees intertwined by jungle vines, this is the world’s largest urban forest, home to ocelots, howler monkeys, over 300 bird species, waterfalls, and one of Rio’s iconic landmarks, the Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) statue atop Corcovado Mountain.
- Sugarloaf Mountain - Sugarloaf Mountain rises 396 meters or 1,300 feet above sea level. From this vantage point, you can enjoy the most stunning views of Rio de Janeiro and truly understand why it is called “The Wonderful City.”
- Copacabana Beach - Known as one of the most famous and beautiful beaches globally, Copacabana Beach boasts a lively atmosphere with vibrant and fun-loving people. The tour begins here after pick-up.
- Ipanema Beach - Ipanema Beach is flanked by Arpoador Beach on one side and Leblon Beach on the other. This beach is a central hub of activity in Rio and is one of the most expensive areas to live, filled with affluent residents.
- Sao Bento Monastery - Next, the tour visits the São Bento Monastery, a place of monastic simplicity and one of Brazil’s most beautiful architectural complexes. The exterior’s austere simplicity contrasts with the interior’s rich gilded Baroque engravings featuring plant motifs. Experience the exuberant Rococo style in the high altar’s engravings, followed by views of the dome and the Chapel of the Santíssimo Sacramento.
- Maracana - Maracanã has been the backdrop for significant Brazilian soccer classics and historic international soccer moments. Monumental events, such as Pelé’s thousandth goal in 1969, took place on its field. Inaugurated on July 16, 1950, it hosted World Cup games that year and matches in the 2014 World Championship. It also hosted the 2013 Confederations Cup, the 2007 Pan American Games’ opening and closing ceremonies, and the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Beyond sports, Maracanã has been a venue for major events, including concerts by Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and Tina Turner, as well as a papal mass by Pope John Paul II in 1980 and 1997.
- Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer - From the summit of Corcovado Hill, you can admire the Christ the Redeemer statue, standing 38 meters or 125 feet tall, made of reinforced concrete and covered in a mosaic of thousands of triangular soapstone tiles. This spot also offers some of the city’s most breathtaking views.
- Vista Chinesa - This Chinese-style gazebo provides stunning views of the city and bay, spread out at your feet while you enjoy the shade of this charming structure. The walk to this spot is also delightful. Consider the weather to fully enjoy the views and remember to bring your camera!
- Escadaria Selaron - A mesmerizing sight, these colorful, decorated stairs are the work of a single artist, constantly evolving and a symbol of Rio.
- Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro - The Theatro Municipal is an opera house located in the Centro district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Built in the early 20th century, it is regarded as one of the country’s most beautiful and significant theaters.
The building features an eclectic design, inspired by Charles Garnier’s Paris Opéra. The exterior walls are inscribed with the names of classic Eurocentric and Brazilian artists. It is situated near the National Library and the National Fine Arts Museum, overlooking the expansive Cinelândia Square.
