Great overview of life in a modern favela. - This was a fun short tour and Simon did a nice job. If you are expecting a lot of favela drama and danger you will be disappointed - the point of the tour is to show what modern life in a favela looks like and how the residents have adapted and created a relatively safe space for themselves. We visited two favelas: One of the oldest (small) and the largest. Very interesting to contrast the two.

Worth experiencing! - Highly recommend! As a favela habitant himself, our tour guide was highly knowledgeable about the life there and took us around to the places we never would have seen otherwise. The tour definitely provided fruit for thought for longer time than just the visit to favela.

Experience how fantastic and varied life can be - Great tour to two favelas, safe and interesting with our fantastic local guide Marcelo 😊. Puzzled by how so many people can be in such a little space and many of them amazingly happy of course with many versions of what happens in the small side-streets…

A great experience. - An excellent tour. The pick up was smooth. We were a group of 12. All English speaking as requested. The driver was good and drove safely. Leo was our tour guide. He was very good and we felt safe at all times. It gave us an excellent feeling and understanding for the Favela’s. I strongly recommend the tour.

Not quite as advertised - It was advertised to go to 2 Favelas, we went to one. We also had a lot of trouble with the driver and drop off but we finally got it sorted out. Mateo was a wonderful guide and lives in the Favela. This was a rich cultural experience.

A brief insight into favela life - We spent about 3hrs on the bus and around 40 mins in favelas. That was okay though. The first favela we went to was next to a very rich neighbourhood and we visited a school but there was only one child there and we didn't interact with anyone while we were there. We wandered around and it was really incredible to see. It was only small but you still got a great experience there. We got back on the bus and went to the entrance of Rocinha and took some photos on the bridge and then we got back on the bus and drove up the steep windy roads to the top where we got off the bus and crossed the road to look at the view from a garage and then got back on the bus to be dropped off at our respective hotels. It was a dual language tour which wasn't a problem at all. For the price I think it was sufficient and I'm glad I got to see what I did.
