Duration: 9 hours

Highlights
  • Morro Dois Irmaos - We’ll visit the Penhasco Dois Irmãos Park, a cute nature park that is the limit between the beach area and the rainforest and mountains. You’ll be a bit higher up with great views to Ipanema and Leblon beaches and also to Lagoon and Christ Redeemer. (there´s some walking but not hiking up the Dois Irmãos hills).
  • Vista Chinesa - The Chinese View summit has one of the best views in Rio and is one of the very few places where you can see and capture Sugar Loaf and Christ Redeemer in the same frame. The scenic spot also has a pagoda built with chinese style to honor a group of chinese farmers who immigrated in the beginning of the 1900s.
  • Cascatinha Taunay - Taunay Waterfall is the highestin the Tijuca Forest National Park and really loved by locals. We’ll stop close to the falls to admire its beauty, feel its drops and also visit an old bridge built in 1860 that is now mixed and composed with the tropical ranforest around. Amazing spot for pictures and to feel “inside the forest’ and away from the city.
  • Mirante das canoas - Stopping by this summit, we’ll be able to see Pedra da Gavea, the highest monolith close to the ocean in the world, and Pedra Bonita, the mountain where the hang-gliders take off. These 2 beautiful mountains are part of the amazing and unique Rio de Janeiro landscape and you’ll have a very close angle view with the mountains, the forest and the ocean. After this attraction, we’ll stop for a lunch break.
  • Chico Mendes Ecological Park - After the break for lunch, we’ll visit Marapendi Park, a mangrove and lagoon area. On this park, we’ll take a 10 min. walk (it´s flat terrain - no hiking up). On the lagoon, it´s possible to see capybaras and caimans and also some more wildliefe like birds, lizards and more. This stop reveals how much different the eco-systems can change within Rio limits.
  • Prainha Beach - Prainha is a small, protected and secluded beach on the West Zone of Rio, considered the best surfing spot in the city. It’s very scenic, with rainforest, mountains and rocks all around. We’ll have the chance to visit it, take some pictures and maybe drink some coconut water enjoying the lush of this area.
  • Roncador Lookout - Viewpoint on the West RIo, inside Prainha Nature Park with amazing view to the ‘Sleeping Giant’, the mountain rage of Rio that is also a local legend.

Rio eco secrets - As a family group with 3 small children we had booked the Rio Eco Secrets tour. Discovering some off the track spots of Rio was wonderful. Our guide Tito made it an amazing experience sharing generously his knowledge and insights. Thank you very much for a fantastic day! We can truly recommend JungleMe if you want to explore Rio the other way.

Outstanding views - Renata was an excellent guide. She is knowledgeable about Brazil's history, geography and ecosystems. Fluent in English, she shared her passion and love of Rio with us. We learned alot about Rio's culture. It's like exploring Rio with an old friend. Her recommendations of food places in Rio were spot-on. Our tour took us to spots known mostly to locals. We covered beach, forest, parks, waterfalls, lagoon ... Jungle Me kindly opened up a day for us when we had only one day available. Communication was fast & responsive. Highly recommend Jungle Me and thank you Renata for a day well spend.

Visit some of Rio's most gorgeous natural sites! - Our guide Roberto took us on the fascinating "Rio Nature Secrets" tour. Not only did we see beautiful waterfalls and remote beaches, but we also discovered the hidden resting spot of the native caimans and learned a ton about Brazil's turbulent history and diverse geographical regions. This was definitely time and money very well invested!

Rio's Nature Gems - I recently visited Brazil and undertook two tours with JungleMe one a full day excursion called Rio’s natural Gems as well as a half day excursion Tijuca National Park and hike to Pedra Bonita. They were both amazing and I would highly recommend both tours for anyone wanting to experience Rio’s beautiful nature and wildlife. My guide for both trips was Renata who is totally fluent in English. Renata is an amazing photographer and showed me lots of tricks with my camera which I did not know about. Renata is extremely friendly as well as enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about Brazil’s history and specifically about Rio de Janeiro’s history and natural environment. On the full day trip, I got to see the full extent of Rio and all the amazing mountains and parks around Rio. The hike to Pedra Bonita was fantastic with amazing views from the top over Rio. The views were far superior to those from either Sugar Load Mountain or from the Statue of Christ the Redeemer.
