Highlights
  • Pedra do Telegrafo - During this journey, we will first visit the summit of Guaratiba Hill and the renowned hanging anvil-shaped stone (Pedra do Telégrafo), where we can take some photos that will freak out your friends and family (we promise, it’s totally safe).

It takes around 40 to 60 minutes on a moderate trail to reach this viewpoint (350 meters / 1150 feet high), which provides us with a sight of the mountainous coastline of the city and the vast surrounding ocean. The total trail length is 3,6 kilometers roundtrip (2.2 miles), and the elevation gain is 300 meters (985 feet), 1 hour approx. (one way).

After that, we will hike back for around 1-hour trough the trail we came in to get back to the car. Then, we will stop respectively at Prainha Beach and/or Grumari Beach, where we will have around 45 min. to relax at each spot. If the weather forecast is unfavorable, we will offer an alternative itinerary after the hike. After that, we drive through Rio’s coast until the drop-off point.

  • Praia de Grumari - After the hike, we’ll have a quick 10 minutes drive to Grumari Beach, where you will have the opportunity to refresh yourself (optional).

It's worth it! - Great walk! Light track and beautiful view! We chose to take the tour with a guide and it was the best choice, because there is no signage on site. To take the photo on the stone and avoid the queue, I would recommend going during the week. We went on a Wednesday morning early and we went on Mondays in line, but soon other groups arrived.

Sunrise view 🌅 - Do the 3am sunrise hike !!!! Sooooo worth it!! Yes it’s early, but once the sun rises at around 5am you’ll have the rest of the day free!! The views were absolutely stunning. The worst part of this hike is the beginning just because of how steep it is going up. Other than that it’s fairly easy. Thalles was our guide and was very nice and knowledgeable. I forgot to mention we were like the first group at the rock other than some individuals who slept there. If you don’t go early you risk waiting in a long line for pictures rather than getting as many as you like 😉

Amazing Journey ! Totally worth the hard work. - Our guide Samuel was truly amazing! Full of knowledge, experienced and truly helpful. None of us had ever been on a hike and he made us feel at ease without rushing He was also an experienced photographer and did videos documenting our journey. We are forever thankful.

You can do it - Samuel was the best ever , it was four of us and he was the sweetest, most patient calming tour guide ever!!! We were nervous about the hike but he was extremely reassuring and helped us , motivated us all the way to the top!!! We made it and got to experience the most beautiful view and pictures ever !!!! Totally worth it ! The drive is about 1 hr from Copacabana and we were picked up at 5am . Samuel Planned it perfectly, I recommend leaving as early as possible because it gets very crowded we were 2nd on the line thanks to Samuel but as we were leaving the line was long everyone takes a turn for the famous pictures and there is a professional photographer at the top if you want to purchase pictures which I recommend. Definitely wear hiking shoes or hiking sneakers there’s alot of slippery areas. The hike is not too bad I’m 5 feet and weigh 160 lbs not the fittest but I was able to do it with Samuel’s help !!!He was God sent !

It was an escapade - Our guide Henrique was the best. He let us rest during the steep hike and always helping me and my wife go up thru difficult steps. He even pick up trash along the way down. It was unsightly considering we are on a nature trail. He always offered to take pictures when the view is spectacular. As I requested he brought us to a beach where there’s restaurants and toilets. The view from the top of the climb was breathtaking. Worth the hard climb up. The beach was nice too and mostly local residents are here which we like. Highly recommended tour

At 3 better! - A spectacular experience, the guide Samuel, a machine! It is best to do it at 3, it is nice to go at night and when you arrive you see the sunrise and you can entertain yourself by taking photos before people arrive and you don't have to wait.

A morning hike for some fantastic photo opportunities - An awesome adventure! Thalles our guide was first class. Good communication before the day, arrived exactly when he said he would. Spoke excellent English and a real eco warrior, full of knowledge which he was happy to share. Comfortable transportation. Care and consideration to ensure pace of climb was comfortable for my wife and I. Took many great photos for us which we will treasure for a lifetime. If you have a spare morning in Rio, a little bit of energy and want to get some fantastic photos for display or to share with family and friends this is the trip for you. Fantastic, thank you!
