Embark on a private exploring adventure at the Cantareira State Park, a scarce 40-minute drive from the center of São Paulo.
Your journey’s primary destination is Pedra Grande (big rock), an observation point perched at 1010 meters, and approximately 5 kilometers from the main entry of the park – a round-trip distance of 10 kilometers. This site offers an exquisite panoramic view of São Paulo.
The trail to the Pedra Grande overlook is marked by unpaved roads that incline upward, with a mild level of complexity, enveloped in indigenous woodland. The path reveals a rich topography full of small waterfalls, animals, particularly monkeys, and vibrant flora.
Roughly, an hour and a half into the trail from the park’s entrance lies a serene lake. Here, take a respite and then continue the journey for another half hour until you reach the overlook.
Upon reaching the peak of Pedra Grande, you’re presented with a breathtaking landscape capturing the full expanse of São Paulo, allowing you to gaze upon the valleys surrounding the largest city in the Southern hemisphere.

Fun guide and gorgeous forest - Had a lovely time hiking with Dennis! He is knowledgeable and fun to be around. Loved learning about the flora and fauna of the area. Highly recommend Dennis and this trip!

Wonderful walk to Big Rock for wonderful São Paulo views - Danilo from Gregtur picked us up at our Airbnb and was our guide for the walk up through the National Park to Big Rock for superlative views of São Paulo City. Danilo was a superb guide and we enjoyed his company right from the start . He told us so much about São Paulo, its culture, history and politics that it brought the place alive for us. He had a thoughtful and gentle manner which all of us loved.
His English was superb.
The walk itself up through the national park(rainforest) was beautiful. The views from the top down to the city were amazing. He gave us space to enjoy the views as a family but was very attentive to our needs.
He took some beautiful photos of us and the views.
It was a day that the four of us will never forget!
I highly recommend the tour and Danilo as a guide.
We had another tour booked with Gregturismo the next day and were delighted to find Danilo was our tour guide again!

Beautiful hike, amazing guide - Was searching very last minute for an outdoor activity the next morning and came in contact with Greg. He did an incredible job of pure customer service by working to coordinate with available guides, open parks, and my budget. I was picked up from my hotel, guided on a 5 hr hike, drank from fresh coconuts to rehydrate, then dropped off back at my hotel. All of this was done by Luiz. Such an amazing person. Full of stories, knowledge, courtesy, and an openness to friendship. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a close urban escape while in Sao Paulo.

Rainforest special - Delightful pair of walks up to Pedra Grande with an amazing view of all of Sao Paolo, then through the rainforest to waterfalls. Our guide Dennis was very knowledgeable, friendly and good company. Recommend most highly.

Denis the Spectacular tour guide - I didn’t post any pictures because I didn’t want to confuse the actual tour we did. I was unable to do the hike due to a last minute injury. The tour guide company was phenomenal at accommodating the change of plans and we were able to have a great day with Denis our guide. He was very knowledgeable and guided us with ease in English. Highly recommend this tour as their staff is exceptional

Sweet escape from the city to a small paradise - The guide Denis was lovely, helpful, knowledgeable of the landscape and I had a great day ! The reserve is marvelous, very rich and pretty to the city center. Highly recommended !

Coffee Farm Tour - One of our favorite tours that we took. Adi, our guide, picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the farm. We spent the day exploring the 1650's farm with the owner and his wife. They explained the history of the farm, as well as how their exclusive coffee brand is grown and processed. Adi translated for us. We enjoyed a delicious lunch meal, all made from items grown on the farm and prepared on a wood burning stove. The tour was personal and we felt like we spent the day with a local family. Adi did a great job as our guide and interpreter. I would recommend this tour and guide to anyone visiting Sao Paulo.
