Smart, Accommodating and Safe Tour Guide - Ordain is a great guide in South Africa! It was my first trip to the country. I booked last minute less than 24 hrs. notice and he was at our hotel lobby at 6:30AM to take us on a full day tour of Aquila Safari and we squeezed in a wine tasting at a winery on the way back. I appreciate all the knowledge and history he was able to share and all of the questions I had about the country, culture, food and politics. He's very flexible with our requests as well. By the end of the day, we asked him to pick us up the next morning for a different excursion. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I will Call Ordain next time I visit Cape Town! Thanks!

1 day safari - We did the full 1 day trip, aquila safari, bus ride was ok, seem to go on forever, guide we had was excellent, assisted on coach and plenty of information about cape town on the way. On arrival, nice friendly greeting, good buffet style breakfast try the sausage, they reyt nice!! Boarded the safari trucks, very bumpy at the back, try to sit further forward. Did see up close, gariffe, hippo's, elephants, welder breast, antelope, springbok, zebra's, rhino's and ostriches, all with a very knowledgeable guide. Sadly the lions didnt come out to play today, not through the lag of the guide trying to find em, more than 3 times circled around. Good toilet stop, plenty of vino flowing n bottled water. Back for a Braai style lunch, enjoyed afternoon in pool, drinking and meeting new friends. Trip back abit shorter as they go through the tunnel, instead of the svenuc route over mountain, the way ya come. Good out, not to be missed.

The big 5 …. No it wasn’t! - From the moment we arrived and we’re told our room wasn’t ready and we’re greeted with a sickly sweet fizzy wine I knew we had made a mistake. I booked a family Lodge for the three of us. We were shown into two rooms. One with a view of the hills the other room with only a window overlooking a corridor which you needed to be 5ft tall to see out of……. It was not a great start for our two night stay. Needless to say I went to reception to be told we are full no other rooms available. I felt we had been duped. The booking form clearly shows lodges on stilts. That what I thought I booked still we were there now…. The catering experience was no where near 4* it was school dinners. The waiting staff were all helpful, polite and friendly. The food was ample in quantity but quality was lacking. Lots of Pasta, lots of Salad, lots of Potato lots of Bread and lots of processed cheese and biscuits. We had booked 4 Safari experience…….honestly, only one 2 hour tour in a lorry with 24 others was necessary. The lorry trip was excruciatingly uncomfortable sit at the front if you can. The roads were in an awful condition. The animals were basically fed in the mornings and afternoons after which you were driven around to see them. Three elephants, three lions, three giraffes. Plenty of Springbox buffalo and rhino it was basically a zoo where 4 of the big 5 could be seen. No mention of Leopards though………where were they??? The promises of the Big 5 seemed to be false and there was no mention of where the leopards were…… We agree to spend 1,000rand on a Quad bike Safari. The quad bikes were death traps bent broken! The helmets we were given were very old, filthy and completely disgusting. Finally no TVs in any rooms and the WiFi was a joke…….. no streaming was possible at all and getting on line was almost impossible. When you did get online it dropped out almost immediately which in 2022 was completely unacceptable. Go for a day with low expectations of what you might see and please do not expect to see the Big 5 and you will be fine! We were so very disappointed!!
