Highlights
- Truso Gorge - This is the most beautiful valley in Georgia. Truso Valley is a magical place with magnificent mineral springs, a rapid river, and natural “pools”. The trail starts and ends in the village of Okrokana, which is 25 km from Stepantsminda. We will go there by 4x4 car from our office. We will return in the same way.
- Zakagori Fortress - We will do a delightful trek (22 km of the flat trail) through the Kasari Canyon, the abandoned village Ketrisi and two monasteries to the Zakagori Fortress near the border with Russia, where the Georgian military base is located.
- Ketrisi - We do a picnic near a natural “pool”. We will meet many shepherds and their herds. This trekking is easy, but it is a long day (22 km and 7 h in total), so you have to be fit enough. You should take water and snacks. You must be prepared for changeable weather. Bring a jacket and something in case it rains. You must also have trekking shoes. The time spent in the car is 1 hour and the trekking time is 7 hours.

The most beautiful valley in Georgia. Within one active day, you can visit Zakagori Fortress, Keterisi Monastery and several natural monuments, such as travertine formations, Abano Mineral Lake and Keterisi Canyon. The valley is surrounded by rocky peaks, along with volcanic streams that are so eye-catching that you’ll hardly stop taking photos on every step you take.
- The minimum age that is allowed to join this tour: Even small children can participate in this tour (together with their parents). You can take children in a stroller or in a baby carrier.

Wonderful experience for two families with kids - We had a wonderful experience with Mountain Freaks. The communication with Keti before our trip was great. She took time for a phone call where she explained in details the tours they offer and the pros and cons, considering the needs of our group of 10 people with children. This allowed us to make an informed decision on the Juta and Truso Valleys tours. Keti was our guide for both tours and she was just perfect. She shared a lot about the history and nature of the wonderful places we visited. Keti was also an excellent guide for our 6 kids from 4 to 13 years old. We felt completely safe with her and she managed to transmit to our kids a true pleasure for the hike and energy to complete the tour with a smile even when they started to be tired toward the end of the day. Mountain freaks also arranged the cars for our tours and for the transfer to Tbilisi, offering a transparent and professional service. Fully recommended. We look forward to the next hike with them!
