Friendly and accommodating staff - The Lazy Dog Adventure staff was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived on time for our 11pm half day kayak rental (meaning we’d have up to 3pm to return), but one of our party members was 30 minutes late because he was getting sandwiches for us to eat lunch out in the water.
The staff told us it was fine and even said we can be out until around 4:30pm so it felt like we lost no time :). The routes were explained very clearly and we were given a laminated map for us to keep during the trip.
The actual kayaking paths were really engaging too! The mangroves next to the canal were really fun to navigate through. We had a high tide that day, so lots of ducking under trees and tight passageways.
Highly recommend anyone interested in exploring the mangroves to book with Lazy Dog.

Key West Labor Day Fun! - We had a great time kayaking in the mangroves! Lazy Dog made it so easy to just jump in and go! We'll be back again next year.

Great family activity - Great experience paddling through mangroves. Water was not clear because of recent storm but still saw birds and had a lot of fun on the water. Staff and equipment all top notch. Would go back.

A great way to spend the morning! - We decided on the 4 hour trip as a nice way to spend the morning. We were given a map and some tips on where to go. We saw nurse sharks under the first bridge you come to. We also saw crabs climbing on trees in the mangrove tunnels, jelly fish in the salt pool, and waterfowl. We made it out to the Atlantic Ocean and watched military jets take off before heading back. We went from 9-12:30 to avoid the heat of the day. I highly recommend this activity.

Best outfitter not just in Key West, but anywhere. - Such a fun & knowledgable group of people at Lazy Dog. If you want to get on the water in Key West (and you should), these are the folks to do it with. If you don't know what you're doing, they'll give you instructions. If you sorta know, they'll help out with what you don't. Or, if you do know what you're doing (I do), they're friendly & helpful in getting you on your way. They know kayaks, SUP's & the waters of Key West & love sharing it with others. My favorite is Heather 3 (yes, there are 3 Heathers), who always remembers me & treats me like a returning friend. Along with day kayak trips, I've done their paddlefit & Full Moon paddles, all well done & super fun (their paddlefit is a WORKOUT!).

Excellent kayaking!!! - This was a fantastic kayak trip! We loved the mangrove caves and we went out in the ocean to see the ship wreck! Would definitely do this again if we ever come back!

Friendly staff - We didn’t opt for a guided tour, but the staff gave a detail map of the route to take. After we ended our tour and undocked our kayak, we forgot one of our phone on the kayak. The staff was very courteous to check all the arrived kayaks for our phone and finally found it

Fun - What a fun little kayak trip through the mangrove. I highly recommend; if you’re into that sort of thing. The kayak was, also, very comfortable.

This is an averaged review for the 2 times I have been here - First time at Lazy Dog was about 20 years ago booked as a cruise ship excursion. The tour was great and that is why I brought my kids back recently. This time it was almost a disaster. We are experienced kayakers and my older daughter rows crew. We were given what I would describe as a child's diner placemat treasure map. We paddled into the Salt Ponds and tried to follow this idiotic map only to paddle around in the sun for an hour trying to find out way out. It had to be 100 degrees in the sun and we were almost out of water so I called the company to tell them we were having trouble finding our way out... if you look at the map it says "all other tidal creeks dead end." Their brilliant advice... keep looking, you'll find your way out. If we weren't in good shape and able to weather the heat and keep looking this would have had a different outcome. My advice, don't rent from Lazy Dog, my advice to Lazy Dog, mark the only two exits so no one dies out there.

Bring water and try not to die. - We opted to rent kayak’s from Lazy Dog instead of booking a guided tour. Big mistake. The map they give you gets you into the mangroves and to a large pond area only to realize that’s where it’s accuracy ends and you can’t get out. Paddled for like 2 hours trying to find one of the exits. Called the operator who said “keep paddling the perimeter,You”ll find it.” BS! Nothing is marked. We would still be there if we hadn’t finally spotted another group coming in. When we finally made it out, we were met with others that were pi$$ed and had also gotten lost. If you choose to do this, bring water and make sure your cell phone is charged. Not that anyone will come to help.
