Highlights
  • Köpmantorget - is an old market square and connects with Köpmangatan, Stockholm’s oldest named street. The street was first mentioned in 1323 and was the merchant’s street. Köpmantorget has the famous statue of Saint George and the dragon. An old European hero myth which in this case symbolizes the Swedish victory over the Danes in 1471 in Stockholm. We will spend 5 minutes here before we go to Stortorget. - Stortorget - Stockholm’s most famous square where one of the cruelest events took place in 1520, namely the Stockholm blood bath. Here you will hear the captivating story of Stockholm’s blood bath. Perhaps the executioner is looming in the square. Here we spend about 5-7 minutes. - Prastgatan - is named after the Swedish word for priest and had strong connections to the church. Once upon a time, the city’s poor man’s district was located here. Here we will unravel the dramatic time when the plague came to the city in 1350. Here we stay for 5 minutes. - Spektens Gränd - Here we continue the story of the plague and continue to talk about Prästgatan, the most haunted street in Old Town. Hear eyewitnesses’ accounts of how haunted these neighborhoods are. We stay here approximately for 5 minutes. - Stockholm Old Town - the next stop on the guided tour, where we talk about the city’s famous prison where the notorious king slayer Jacob Johan Anckarström spent his last days before his execution. Hear the legend of his shuffling steps in the alleys after his own execution and hear the guide tell of his hauntings. 5 minutes stay on this site. - Prastgatan - Helvetesgränd is the next stop which in English means the street of hell. The site is still haunting and once upon a time, the executioner lived here. Meet the executioner and hear his vivid stories of executions, his own life and how he became an executioner in the first place. Here the visitors spend 5-7 minutes. - The Royal Palace - the next place where you will meet the famous architect Niccodemus Tessin who hails from the European continent. Hear his stories about the royal castle, the great castle fire and about Stockholm, perhaps Sweden’s most terrifying ghost, the White Lady. A female figure both the swedish royalty and ordinary tourists have glimpsed on the top floor of the castle. Here we stay for 5 minutes.
