• Stortorget - This historic square, now home to the Nobel Museum and other attractions, was the site of the infamous Stockholm Bloodbath, a notorious execution in Stockholm and Sweden’s history.
• Kindstugatan - The saying “sex sells” was true even in the mid-1600s. International ambassadors and court servants frequented Sara Simonsdotter’s brothel, contributing to a prostitution scandal that shook Stockholm. The brothel was located on Kindstugatan, now one of the most charming streets in Gamla Stan.
• Vasterlanggatan - Västerlånggatan is neither particularly long nor located in the west, so why is it named so? Our guide has the answer, one that made much more sense in the 1200s.
• Marten Trotzigs grand - Mårten Trotzigs gränd is Stockholm’s narrowest alley and a must-see for tourists. The alley is only 90 centimeters wide and is, of course, located in Gamla Stan.
• Riddarhustorget - Today, the Bondeska Palace houses the Supreme Court and symbolizes justice. Ironically, it was also the site of Sweden’s deadliest riot, where the innocent Swedish Count Axel von Fersen was killed.
