Evening kayak and barbecue - highly recommended - We had a fantastic evening kayaking around the Stockholm islands and then finishing off with a lovely meal on the shore of the lake. Our guide was incredibly friendly and supportive - we wouldn't have had the confidence to paddle as far without her! It was a great way to see bits of Stockholm we would otherwise have missed. Even our teenagers enjoyed it ;)

Travel on a floatation device - Excellent tour guide. He coached us regarding safety issues and best practices for kayak operations and know a lot of Stockholm history.

Oscar led a great tour - The kayaking was beautiful and easy. Oscar was our guide and he guided, but also gave us our space. Oscar pointed out several areas of interest and was very informative. Once the kayaking was over Oscar prepared an impressive meal with only a fold-out grill. Our entire group, 8 of us from Kentucky,USA, were glad to have met Oscar and have him as our guide. Oscar even took time to teach me a skill I hope I can master. The next day we received an email with several pictures that Oscar had taken along the way. It is this kind of “above and beyond” customer service that makes it easy for me to give a 5 star review to that company (and their guide).

True Nature Sweden - Oscar was a wonderful guide for our sunset kayaking adventure. He was energetic, congenial and helpful. The weather was perfect and the grilled dinner just right.

A nice break from the busy city - Relaxed kayaking experience. There are challenges for inexperienced kayakers like wind and wakes. A good break from the bustling tourist activities. Don’t expect a gourmet dinner, it’s just a fun bbq.

Possibly better than sitting at home - We didn’t have a BAD time, per se, but we probably could have had a better time on our own. For one: it is difficult for a group to kayak around Stockholm’s islands because the waterways are narrow and boat traffic is unpredictable/wake-inducing. Our group was constantly bumping into each other trying to avoid the boats without running aground. Next: dinner is more of a snack and I’m pretty sure everyone left hungry. My partner and I actually hit up McDonald’s after we left. Also, there is nothing to drink except for coffee, which the guide forgot to offer us until the very end. Fortunately, a few of us brought our own water bottles. It was one of the hottest days of the year! The price is typical for a kayak excursion in a city like this, but the paddles usually last longer than 30 minutes. This one didn’t. And yet they were still charging 20 SK to rent dry bags, which honestly should be free. The description says we are to kayak “to an island” for dinner, but we just kayaked back to our starting point and ate on a beach nearby. We were offered the use of a WC, which was a porta-potty covered in graffiti with no hand soap inside. Directions are unclear, as well. Just use Google maps and type in their general address, then stop off at the first kayak place you see - which is NOT branded with this company’s logo. We thought we were in the wrong place, especially since they lost our reservation, but I ended up catching a glimpse of my name on their iPad which saved us from additional wandering. On the plus side, Oscar was a delight. He answered all of our questions and told us all kinds of fun stories about life in Sweden. He even taught us a Swedish drinking song that we now use when we pound aquavit. So there’s that. Until TNS makes this a better experience, save your money and rent a kayak on your own. Pack some food and drinks in a backpack and paddle up to whatever island speaks to you that evening. That’s a pretty Swedish thing to do.

You are better to rent a kayak on your own and get a snack in town afterwards - This was a very average/poor activity for the price. The description is about having a barbecue on an island in the middle of the kayak trip. This is not true! We had a small 1 hour trip around Långholmen and after being back to the starting point, we walked to a beach where there was no barbecue at all. We had to make ourselves cold wraps right on the sand of the beach just beside dog poop and cigarettes butts. It was also poorly organized. When arriving at "Långholmen Kajak", nobody had a clue about the "True Nature" activity. There was no signs about this. We seriously thought we were at the wrong place. The guys there wanted us to take a kayak and go freestyle. We almost got caught up, so we could have missed this activity very easily. There was no "True Nature" guide at the meeting time. In fact he arrived about 10 minutes late and seemed confused on how the renting was working. Later on, when we finally got our kayaks, another guide arrived but she was on training. The main guide was a USA student in Sweden and the trainee was a local. How strange! The guides told us only 3-4 very generic facts about Stockholm. Nothing that we already knew. It felt like we got caught in a tourist trap. In fact, for about a third of the price, we could have rented a kayak to go on our own for 2 hours and get a Picadeli salad at a ICA nearby at the end ! We expected a lot more for the price of the activity.
