- Stortorget - Stortorget, the main square in the Old Town, has always been the heart of Stockholm. If cobblestones could talk, they would have countless stories to tell! Today, the square hosts the Nobel Museum, dedicated to one of Sweden’s greatest inventors and his legacy.
- Prästgatan - The northernmost part of Prästgatan (Priest Street) was once known as Helvetsgränd (Hell’s Alley). In the Middle Ages, it was believed that the area northwest of the church was a desecrated resting place for the dead. Storkyrkan (Stockholm Cathedral) is just around the corner; hence, this part of the street was referred to as Hell.
- Royal Palace - The Royal Palace is one of Europe’s largest and most vibrant places. It is the official residence of His Majesty the King, and many key aspects of the monarchy’s representation occur here. The Royal Palace is also the daily workplace for the King and Queen, making it unique among Europe’s royal residences.
- Storkyrkan - The Stockholm Cathedral is one of the city’s oldest buildings, where King Carl XVI Gustav and Queen Silvia exchanged vows. In 2010, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel followed in their footsteps.
- Jarnpojken - Järnpojke is the smallest (and most adorable!) statue in Sweden. Officially named the Iron Boy (Järnpojken in Swedish), he is also known as the “Boy looking at the Moon.”
- Statue of St. George - St George and the Dragon symbolize the battle between Sweden (St. George) and Denmark (the Dragon) in the late 1400s. The sculpture is a bronze copy; the original, made of wood, is inside Storkyrkan (Stockholm Cathedral).
- Marten Trotzigs grand - Mårten Trotzig is the narrowest alley in Stockholm. At its narrowest point, it is only 90cm wide. Some guidebooks claim it is the narrowest alley in Europe, but that is not true; there is one in Prague that is only 60cm wide. Certainly, there are alleys in other European countries that are narrower than Mårten Trotzig.
- Skeppsbron 26 - Enjoy a scenic public ferry ride! With two bodies of water in the city center, ferries are a means of public transport and a perfect spot for picturesque photo opportunities and visiting the world-famous Vasa Museum.
- Vasa Museum - The Vasa Museum is home to the world’s only preserved ship from the 1600s. Together, we will skip the line to enter the Vasa Museum and learn about its story. In short, The Vasa was Sweden’s most expensive and richly ornamented naval vessel during the 1600s. When the Vasa embarked on her maiden voyage, Stockholm’s residents lined the shore to wish her good luck. They witnessed the disaster as the Vasa capsized and sank in Stockholm harbor. Today, the Vasa Ship lies before you, 98% intact.

Vasa and Gamla Stan highlights - The introduction to Vasa helped us exploring this amazing and large museum on our own after the guide left. History of Sweden was informative and fun.
