Allen and Chris are... - Allen and Chris are really good tour guides. They have done this hike multiple times and are one of the fittest people I have ever met. I was just stumped after I heard Chris's fitness stories. They make sure all tour people feel ok, if anyone is hurting and make adjustments on the go.
Most importantly, they are also nice people. Thanks guys!

An absolute must-do day, with wonderful guides. - A full group is eight plus a guide, but it seems our hosts never cancel on grounds of insufficient attendees, even if it means running at a loss. Our guide for the day, Alan, told us he would even lead a group of one – dedication! Alan’s enthusiasm and knowledge of flora and fauna and geology is prodigious, likewise his fantastic company which made our trip a truly special and memorable event. Alan (local Norwegian, despite English-sounding name!) can chat on topics ranging from mathematical modelling to Monty Python’s Four Yorkshiremen sketch! What a great day. Be warned, though, it can be a bit of a scramble on this route and there were some parts where I needed a hand up. But Alan never rushed us, and we were out in the end for nearly 12 hours (including the drives and the canoeing). Great companionship from Alan, inspiring trust from the outset in his competence, judgment and, of course, intimate acquaintance with the terrain. An absolute must-do day if you like trekking and views!

Preikestolen Secret Hike - Fantastic - We hiked the Secret Trail up to Preikestolen yesterday with Allen as our guide. The hike starts with a short canoe paddle across an alpine lake and then we took to a beautiful forest trail that climbed steeply up! After a while, we reached a rocky area where the hike continued upwards taking us above Preikestolen to even more dramatic views before dropping down to the famous outlook. During the most of the hike we saw no other people (compared to the hoards on the main trail). It was stunning! It was also significantly longer and more challenging than the regular path - but so worth it! Allen was terrific and we had the pleasure of another guide, Terry, accompanying us who was familiarizing himself with this alternative way up. Both guides were professional and took great care of us. I can’t imagine visiting this popular location (which is breathtaking) any other way!

Simply the Best Hike with the Best Guide! - I highly recommend the Preskitolen Hidden Trails with Explore Lysefjorden. Erlend was our guide and he was phenomenal -- he was always available with a helping hand and words of encouragement. The views on the Hidden Trails hike were exceptional for the vast majority of the hike. Not only is Erlend an exceptional guide, he is also an excellent photographer -- buy the photo package -- you won't be disappointed. I would book another trip with Explore Lysefjorden without hesitation and hope to do so again one day soon.

Safe but challenging experience that was well worth it! - Unfortunately, on the day I went there was some off and on rain during the hike. But, in the end it was well worth it. This hike takes you above Preikestolen and has some great views of the fjord along the way.
You really need to read the description of the hike and take it seriously. This is not for any unexperienced hiker and also not for someone who may be afraid of heights.
If you are looking for a safe but challenging experience that takes you directly through nature, without any other hikers on the trail, but ends at one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world then this is the one for you.
Our guide Alan and his dog Baba were great! Alan was very kind and encouraged us throughout the hike while Baba provided emotional support and sometimes led the way.

Oh so quiet! - We did the "off the beaten track" option and it was great, we didn't see another soul until arriving at Preikestollen. Our guides Helga and Alan were excellent!

Preikestolen Hidden Trail Hike— DO IT! - This was the BEST guided tour I have ever been on. I’m so glad we chose the hidden trail hike, as if affords so many amazing views without the hordes of people. Erlend picked us up promptly at our hotel and was an affable and knowledgeable guide all day. This hike was truly stunning— we started off by paddling in canoes and then left our canoes and walked up the mountain, finishing at a vantage even higher than Pulpit Rock. Along the way, Erlend and Hege were helpful and shared information about flowers and plants and birds. Our lunch stop had beautiful (and unfettered) views of the fjord and we just couldn’t stop gushing about how lucky we felt to be experiencing the beauty of Norway without throngs of tourists. I will certainly be booking with this company next time I come to Stavanger. From start to end, it was seamless and it will go down as one of our trip’s absolute highlights! [Some notes: make sure to heed the advice about what to wear, how much water to bring, etc. I’d also make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen! This was a bit more rigorous than I initially expected, but well worth it. I really can’t imagine seeing Pulpit Rock any other way now.]
