Orkney is a must see! - Absolutely brilliant! Orkney wasn't even on my radar - but I had an extra day in the north, and it may be the highlight of my trip to Scotland! Orkney Travel is an excellent company with detailed and timely advanced instructions, an extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide, and they have packaged a great tour. Highly, highly recommend this tour with the group! Dougie was fabulous.

Great tour and tour guide! - This tour was everything it promised! Rachel was our excellent guide who answered all our questions, gave us history and cultural information about every site we visited, was always on time, and conducted the tour professionally and competently. I recommend the tour to anyone considering a one-day trip to Orkney.

We had a very good time - Very educational. Dougie is very knowledgeable. It is a good way to tour when you have only one day to visit Orkney. He is also very efficient guiding us thru the crowd of larger group of tourists.

sympathetic personal guidance - Dougie was very sympathetic and told us lots of details about his island and its history. We visited the sights with a small bus and small group and came through well. There was also time for photos. We learned a lot more than on a tour on our own. Despite not favorable price we can recommend it.

Lovely day trip to Hoy - The day trip around Hoy was an excellent tour. Steve our guide was engaging and informative. We basically travelled the length and breadth of Hoy in a day. Initially covering the remnant WW1 and WW 2 structures and their historical context. Then on to Betty Corrigal's grave and then a cup of coffee above an expansive view across Scara Brae. Then a short walk to see the Dwarfie Stone - a hollowed out Neolithic stone resting in a broad glacial valley. from there to Rackwick for lunch at the beach and then visits to the museums to get a taste of former Hoy life in the village at Rackwick. Stone cottages, byres and school. We returned the way we came and ventured out onto the cliffs at White Hamars. A short walk in welcome sunshine after the cold blustery morning. Fulmars nesting, spectacular cliffs and cave formations. Then onto a bit of modern Hoy with a visit to one of the Life boats on the island. A serious bit of boat and very skilled volunteers to rescue people at sea. A worthwhile way to spend a day on Hoy. I would recommended the trip. To get to Hoy, you can catch the car ferry from Houton, which is a short bus trip from Kirkwall. The bus and ferry timetables align to make catching the ferry easy.

Amazing trip - The entire trip was amazing. Dougie was a phenomenal driver and tour guide. Unfortunately the only downside was that we had the unfortunate day of terrible luck and the weather resulted in the closure of skara brae.
