Amazing Sumo Tour! - This tour was amazing! We got to see a stable practice up close with many practice matches, as well as some of the stretches and workouts they do. We went just before the September tournament started so we got to see some of the higher ranked wrestlers training too! Our guide, Hina, was amazing too! She gave us a lot of context before and after the practice, including the history of sumo, the background of the stable we went to, as well as the ranking system and some details about the some of the wrestlers we saw. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the who experience so great!

Highly recommend this tour! - Had a very nice trip to the sumowrestling training. Our guide was very enthusiastic and could tell us all about sumo. We could watch the sumo wrestlers for a very long time and even could take some pictures. After that there was also some time to ask questions to one of the wrestlers who could speak English. He was very helpful in giving us an insight in the life of a sumo wrestler. I can highly recommend this tour!

A Glimpse into a Hidden Life - Had a great time visiting early morning Sumo practice. I'm a sumo fan so was excited to find that we were visiting a stable that I was familiar with! Almost everyone in our group was familiar with sumo except for my wife who learned a lot about the history from our knowledgable guide. You could tell he was a serious and lifelong sumo fan. The chanko lunch afterwards was nice, too! We actually loved the area around the stables as a lunchtime spot and ended up back there several times. I might even have enjoyed the practice more than the tournaments because you get to be up close and personal. And even meet some of the sumo wrestlers afterwards.

Fascinating One-of-a-Kind Experience - We really enjoyed this one-of-a-kind experience. Our guide was wonderful and shared lots of information about sumo, and also its history and the neighborhood. Watching practice itself was fascinating, and we loved walking around the area afterwards with the guide.

I have a suggestion…I... - I have a suggestion…I have used Viator on several other occasions and the guide reached out the day before with personal contact info on WhatsApp. Our Sumo wrestling guide did not and there was no answer on the number given on my email confirmation. We were at the wrong meeting place and could not contact our guide directly. Fortunately we were with another couple that was at the correct meeting place and we were able to walk to the group. I think we would have missed it, although we were super close, if our friends hadn’t also been on the tour.
