Highlight of our stay in Tokyo - This was our first experience after arriving in Tokyo and it did not disappoint. Kaz was an amazing host. It was very crowded but that added to the experience. Kaz was a true fan and that made it that much more fun and authentic. She had us cheering for her favorites. She did a good job of providing background information and then while we were sitting in the arena. We sat very high in the arena and we had regular stadium seats. Location was good for us. We found the meeting point easily. We all walked into the arena together and found our seats. From there you could go get drinks/snacks. I'm not sure if the tour walked back to the train station together. We left just before the end of the matches and went to the train station ourselves. So, 4 hours is a long time but you don't have to stay for the entire time. We stayed for all but the last match. This was the highlight of our stay in Tokyo.

Fun times at Grand Sumo Tournament - We had a great time with Yuco as our guide. She's a fan and had several handouts to help us understand the tournament and was incredibly knowledgeable about the tournament and rules. Wonderful experience.

Culture & Tradition in a Modern Age - The joining instructions were clear and a helpful person who pointed out the correct tour guide for the group I was assigned to. Our guide was very knowledgable about the sumo history and showed us around displays at the sumo museum quickly. As it was the final day of the tournament it was extremely busy and our guide was careful to keep the group together and guide us to our assigned seats in the Ryokogu Stadium. The stadium was awesome and pretty packed. Our guide was open to answering any questions asked, explaining how the bouts were organised. It was a highly charged and exciting atmosphere and I was fascinated by it all and learned a lot. This is something definitely worth attending when the opportunity arises to get a feel for the prevailing ancient culture of Japan. I enjoyed it very much.

Amazing experience with a fantastic guide - Had a really great time - I knew nothing about sumo prior to going but left the event a fan! The guide, Noriko, spoke great English was really knowledgeable and was able to answer the groups questions and explain the traditions and rules so we all understood what was happening. The atmosphere in the room was great and even our tour group, which was 100% non-Japanese, was really getting into it and rooting for the fighters. The seats were quite high up but ultimately it made no difference as it was easy to see what was happening.

Careful, you might become a sumo addict - I joined a sumo tournament tour because of my partner who wanted to have the experience. I was not looking forward to paying a lot of money and spending several hours in a stadium watching sumo instead of exploring Tokyo. My plan was to see a few matches and leave after an hour max. Oh noy was I wrong. Our guides explained every single detail of the sumo world from the significance of their clothing and hairstyles to their lifestyles and rankings. Their enthousiasm was contagious and I was immediately drawn into this fascinating world, remaining in my seat the entire time, refusing to leave even to get drinks and being sad when the tournament day was over. After coming home I started researching everything sumo related and next day followed the matches online. I know that without our amazing tour guides I never would have enjoyed or appreciated the sumo as I did. This experience turned into an absolute highlight of my entire three week trip to Japan.

Sumo Wrestling Experience - My family thoroughly enjoyed the Tokyo Sumo Wrestling Tournament in large part because of the background information our guide, Yoko, provided us. She explained the rituals, histories of the wrestlers, and results of the tournament’s previous matches. Yoko really knew her stuff! Thanks for making our experience a memorable one!!
