Best Way to Experience Iceland, Especially in Winter - So for our honeymoon, my wife and I decided to come out to Iceland for the winter, in hopes that we might see the Northern Lights. We stayed in Reykjavik the first few days, and slowly everything was getting cancelled due to the crazy blizzards and weather. When we were ready to go drive down to Vik, Kristjan picked us up in his truck and single handedly saved the entire trip. He was very friendly, incredibly knowledgeable about the history of everything with Iceland and knew all the best spots to see. Importantly, he was extremely safe on the treacherous roads, and highly experienced with any of the weather and conditions that faced us. More importantly, he had made our desire come try by helping us see the Northern Lights. I am now convinced that the Northern Lights are not based on luck, but perseverance of the cold weather, and patience for breaking in the cloud cover, as one night Kristjan casually remarked, "I think we will get the lights tonight" and he was right. Do yourself a favor, and do not bother with renting a car, you will likely get trapped on the side of the road, while someone else is having an amazing experience with Mountain Taxi. 30 years of experience will make a huge difference, even if you have him booked for just 3 hours.

Amazing - more than 5 stars. - Amazing must do experience when in Iceland. We had a fantastic trip over 2 different days with Kristian. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgable and a very safe driver in a huge truck in snowy conditions. He adapted our tour as we went along making the most of our time and adjusting to weather conditions. We would Highly Recommend.

Wow, just wow! - Omar was an amazing guide and driver. He was so welcoming and knowledgable, there is no better guide. He fit so much into our tour. It was the best day of our entire vacation. Thanks so much for the memories!

Worth the money - although it is expensive, the super vehicle can go anywhere. nothing is near by in Iceland, you have to travel everywhere. having an experienced native is way bettter than renting a car and trying to figure out where to go!

What an amazing experience! - My husband and I had a great day with Omar visiting the ice caves in the glacier, the geyser and the gulfoss waterfalls. We wanted to fit everything into one day and Mountain Taxi were so accommodating, responsive and easy to deal with. We saw so many cars that had skidded off the road (locals and tourists) so knew we had made the right decision having a professional drive us. We also thoroughly enjoyed Omar’s company.

Private Tour: Into the Glacier, Golden Circle & Blue Lagoon with Gisli Pall - A+ - Gisli Pall was the best tour guide and he truly made this trip spectacular even on an incredibly windy and rainy day. First we went off roading up to Into The Glacier. That was definitely the highlight of our Iceland trip. We stopped a few times to deflate the tires to go over the rough rocky terrain and again before we went on the glacier which was initially just ice and then a ton of snow. What an off-road journey that was before we even got to the main attraction! Next we went to Thingvellir National Park. The continental divide was spectacular as were all the rock formations. The most interesting thing about Iceland is that it almost seems like every 30 minutes you feel like you're in an entirely different country! The terrain is that different. After that we visited Geysir. This was our nine-year-old daughter's favorite spot. You don't have to wait very long to see it erupt. It's happens about every ten minutes or so. Very cool! The Gullfos waterfall was next on our bucket list. It was truly spectacular. I thought that some of the other waterfalls on the south would be better but this one surprised me and really made an impact. It's just powerful waterfall that is truly gorgeous! We then stopped on the side of the road to pet some beautiful Icelandic horses. They're adorable and it was an unexpected stop that kids will enjoy. The Kerid volcano was also surreal. The many different colors are just great for photography and it's way bigger in person. What a cool spot. Don't miss this one. Make sure you walk down to the bottom. It doesn't take that long and is definitely worth it. We ended the day by being dropped off at the Blue Lagoon. Perfect day. The only thing I would have changed was to somehow spend more time at the Blue Lagoon. I'm glad we did it at the end of the day though. It was great to relax after a long day. Perfect tour! Gisli Pall was amazing and I would make sure to request him as your guide. Thanks!!!
