The best guide and the best tour I had - Barly was the best guide I had in four weeks in Indonesia. Not just really knowledgeable but funny, smart, very friendly - we talked about anything and everything and laughed a lot. He was a brilliant companion for a day of history and a day of learning about so many things about Indonesia. He gets more than 5 stars from me.

Important 14-15th century Southeast Asian history lesson - Barly was a personable guide, and a safe driver. I would recommend this day trip to anyone with an interest in the Majapahit empire, which extended from Trowulan in east Java to Temasek (modern-day Singapore).

Awesome Tour with Pak Barli - Pak Barli was my guide and an excellent one at that. His knowledge of the relics was good and very entertaining. Had a great time exploring the different candi all around the town.
I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to Pak Barli for a Majapahit history He is a very nice chap, accommodating, and importantly flexible on the time. Ask for him.

An enriching experience! - We signed up for this tour as we were interested to find out more about the ancient Majapahit Empire and view some of the sites personally. Barly from Javatouristmap was a humble, easy-going and fantastic guide. He took us to key landmarks such as the Majapahit Museum and Candi Tikus. He also showed us the Maja fruit, where the great Majapahit empire got its name.
He was meticulous as well. One of us was vegetarian and as he was concerned that he would not be able to find vegetarian food near the sites - he brought along some Indonesian cakes and snacks for our trip. Fortunately, the restaurant he took us to was able to modify their dishes accordingly.
Highly recommend this as a day trip from Surabaya if you are in the city.

Thanks to Java Tourist Map - Requested for a tour of Majapahit Heritage Archaelogy and we were assigned Mr Barly of Java Tourist Map. I'm very impressed with his historical knowledge of the Majapahit Empire as this is needed on this tour for our better understanding and appreciation of the ancient religious relics. Will definitely engage him again for another tour!

A worthwhile tour to do! - We enjoyed visiting the temples. The museum was worth a visit. Our guide Barly was informative. We learnt a little bit about the history of Majapahit.

Terrible from start to finish - This was the worst tour we have ever taken. Our ticket stated our start time was 9 am. We asked the company to confirm this time but never got a response. At 8:30 am we got an 2 emails one time stamped 8:13 asking where we were and one a few minutes later asking "can we go now". I responded stating our pickup was 9 am and we were on the ship but we get off ASAP. When we got off we were met by a young man with our name on a sign. He did not introduce himself, just took us to a car and drove off. He gave us no explanation of what happened that morning nor any explanation of where we were going or what we going to see. He said virtually nothing during the entire drive to the sight. We eventually arrived and it became evident that he could not speak more than a few words of English. The descriptions at the various locations were only in Indonesian so we did not know what we were looking at. After about an hour of being driven between various spots of sparse ruins were driven back to the ship. So we spent over 3 hours driving there and back to see a few scattered ruins and a museum of pieces of buildings. Definitely not worth checking $219 we paid. We would a full refund as we did not receive what was described.
