After a hike through an alien-like glacial tundra, we will arrive at the edge of the glacier where your guide will assist you in putting your crampons on. We will explore ice caves where your photographer will capture you inside these natural wonders. Once through the lower cave, which is named Sapphire Ice Cave, we will gear up for our hike on the glacier. With crampons on, you will hike to many different formations on the glacier including our famous crystal crevasses. The visuals you will see all around you will create an unimaginable experience as your photographer captures you amongst it.
We are the only tour company in Iceland that offers photo packages along with the smallest group sizes of any glacier tour operator. Every glacier hike through Ice Pic Journeys includes photos from your tour. Each person will receive 10 professionally edited photographs sent via a Drive within the 14 days after your hike. These will include the iconic Blue Ice Cave photos.
- In order to operate this tour we need 2 passengers minimum.
- Photos are edited and sent approximately 14 days after your tour.
- The minimum age for this tour is 8 in the summer and 10 in the winter.

Positive Experience - Our guide was not only knowledgeable about the glacier itself, but also shared fascinating insights about the surrounding landscape and Iceland’s geological features. We learned Iceland’s history and the impact of global warming. They are a professional company and I loved the small group experience.
Before we set foot on the ice, they conducted thorough safety briefings, ensuring everyone understood how to use their equipment properly. They patiently answered all our questions and provided tips for navigating the icy terrain with confidence. Their emphasis on safety allowed us to focus on enjoying the climb without unnecessary worry.
Their combination of expertise, commitment to safety, encouragement, and engaging personality made for an unforgettable adventure.

One of a kind! - At the beginning we were very sad because we had booked the zip line tour and it got canceled due to some permits the company has to renew, so we switched the booking to the hike + cave and in all honesty I think that was way better than what we would’ve done on the original trip. Claudia our tour guide was absolutely amazing! She was extremely knowledgeable, very helpful, super nice and took us to the most amazing spots she knew we could have a unique experience in, she made the trip so worth it! I can’t wait to see the amazing pictures she took. For anyone looking to book a private tour with this company I 100% recommend asking for Claudia to be your guide.

Amazing!! - It was absolutely wonderful—one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! A big part of that was due to the incredible guide. The best guide and the best tour in Iceland - We had the most amazing day exploring an ice cave, various stunning spots, and hiking on the glacier. Our guide, Julien Leclercq, was simply the best guide we’ve ever had. He’s incredibly talented in photography, very friendly, funny, and attentive. Julien did everything possible to make sure each of us had the best experience, creating unique and creative photos we never would have thought of ourselves.
This tour is a must-do in Iceland! I didn’t try other companies, but we crossed paths with a few other tours along the way, and none seemed as thorough or as well-organized as the experience Julien gave us. Ice Pic is lucky to have such a dedicated and talented guide on their team.
I would do this tour 1000 times over – absolutely unforgettable, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Must do! - Kristoff was a wonderful guide on the glacier hike we went on. He was very knowledgeable along the way. Definitely one of the best things to do in Iceland if the weather permits.

Glacier Walk - We had a tour with Krzysztof on September 17th and it was probably the best tour I have ever had. Krzysztof was a delightful tour guide who is very patient and kind. I would give this company my highest recommendation! Although we had to adjust our plans due to the unfortunate circumstance this past August with the ice cave, the company was quick to answer any questions we had and swiftly made the necessary changes. We had an incredible time and will have memories that will last us a lifetime.

Express glacier hike - Christo (hope correct spelling as he is fm Poland) is our guide he is helpful and elaborate very well from safety to glacier formation movement and seasonality
It may not be nice on black color glacier but it is as it is since with volcano ash n layer like that but the feel n experience is the same

Glacier walk and ice cave tour! - Absolutely awesome company! We did a glacier walk and ice cave package that came with 10 professional photos each. We went in late July and while the cave was melting, it was still gorgeous! We also were the ONLY two people who booked the tour for our date, so we had an incredible 1:1 time with our guide Zuzana, who was fantastic! We did the glacier walk first (with full crampons) to avoid other tour groups who arrived for the ice cave - we got to be flexible on where to walk around to, hooked into our harnesses to look down into holes on the glacier, and learned about how the features were formed. We then ended with the ice cave where we were the only 3 people there right up until we left, when other groups started to come again. Got our photos a week later which are quite better than the ones from my phone lol and couldn’t be happier with them! Cannot recommend this company more!

Great employee - We did not go with their tour this time. But I want to write a review about Ms. Zuzana. She found our rental car key nearby the glacier entrance and called the rental company. We were able to get the key back from her in Hofn the next day. Thank you so much Zuzana!

A decent tour with a grumpy tour guide. - The tour was really not bad. Christoph was a really good guide, and very helpful and knowledgeable.They were an hour late starting one of the guides was really rude and unprofessional. I would not use ice pic again. Before we even got to the glacier the trail split for about ten feet, the other looked easier so I took that one. He yelled at me that we needed to stay in a single line, then he walked on the trail I was on and continued to do that. Once while climbing up a small hill where the guide was he yelled at me and told me the soft souls of my boots were going to brake the crampons. He made sure he was very loud about it. Then when my son stopped on an interesting place on the glacier to take a picture he yelled at him and told him he should not do that. Then kept saying "unbelievable", as if he had told us to avoid some spots on the glacier. I don't have a problem with someone trying to keep us safe, but instead of teaching or explaining something he was just trying to bully and belittle. Very unprofessional. This was the low of an otherwise amazing time in Iceland. What a beautiful place.
Somebody said it was his birthday, so maybe he just did not want to be there, I am not sure. I did not have an enjoyable time and I cannot recommend them.
