Great time with IceWalkers - We visited Iceland in October 2024. The trip with IceWalkers was the beat thing during that trip. I recommend them! They keep eye on our safety and tell stories about the Iceland.

Amazing tour company. Book with THIS company!! - This tour company is the absolute BOMB. I took a chance as it is not as large/well known as others but I figured it was unlikely to be worse, and possibly much better! My family of 2 adults and 3 kids did 2 tours, the listed easy one (would have loved to do the harder one but travelling with an 8yr old) to the ice cave, and the solheimajokull glacier walk, which was private. I cannot say enough good things about this. The group tour is with a van that seats 12 people, I think, and that was the size of our group. The ice cave guide Marcin, was really enthusiastic about the science behind the area, and his enthusiasm made it feel very special. Also, this outfit only makes one or two trips a day, which means that the tour leader is not going to be hustling people along because they have to get back to pick up the next group. Our tour was very relaxed and the cave did not feel busy-- we left the parking lot at 11 am, and Marcin pointed out that it was a less busy time for the tours because they have a tendency to book around lunch. I think he had a point. As a note, there are 2 ice caves that are close to the jokulsarlon lagoon. We went to the less busy one. This ice cave has been "sort of" the same cave for a number of years, because it is on the edge of the glacial tongue but that edge is retreating every year, and each year the cave changes due to ice melt, which is why the caves are there in the first place. So it's a different cave every year. The color of the ice is dependent on the time of year and the weather. We were lucky to have an absolute peach of a day with a lot of sun-- blue skies, but in February when the ice was still hard. (Marcin points out that the reason the sky is blue, is the reason the ice is blue.) The tour the next day, was private with Lukasz, and I kind of booked the tour because I felt like it worked for our itinerary, but I was not expecting to be blown away. I was so wrong. It makes me cry a little to think of the tour. It was so awe inspiring. I mean everything in Iceland makes you think it is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen in your entire life, but being on the ice was very, very special. The pictures don't do it justice. Lucasz literally should be the guy on that liquor commercial "the most interesting man in the world." I think my husband and I both fell a little in love :) I think Lukasz only does private tours, we feel so lucky to have spent time with someone who is a mountaineer and has so many unique experiences. Our 8 yr old was a bit of a dick on the tour, and we appreciated that the pouting didn't seem to throw Lukasz off too much-- apologies again. I cannot express how incredible it felt to work with this outfit, and how strongly I recommend them. Ha, my husband may be described as 'cheap' and he beat me to suggesting a tip. (Tips are not 'expected' in Iceland the way they are in US, but they are certainly appreciated if you want to show your appreciation.) Best of luck to Lukasz and Karolina, thank you SO MUCH.

Wonderful and worth its price! - It was such a wonderful experience exploring the ice cave with Ice Walkers Tour! The guide was knowledgeable and experienced, he shared much about Iceland fluently in English (and Polish to the rest of the group). We learnt much about the climate in Iceland, how it's changing and affecting the nature landscape of the country. It was a family-friendly walk to the ice cave and our guide was very patient and accomodating, as our group had some children. Upon reaching the caves, despite it being slightly crowded with other tour groups, our guide ensured that we took all the time we needed to explore and take photos. He was clear with his instructions and we felt that we were in good hands. Overall a great experience, highly-recommended and worth it!
